Can't believe that other democrat lawmakers in MA don't want the senate seat and will let a Kennedy gain a foothold.

Joe Jr. is a loser......from way back. Piss poor attitude during Uncle Ted's memorial...didn't even see Ted's wife in the front row..."where are you, Vicki?"

Joe was a bit inappropriate at the funeral...already campaigning, but it fell flat.

Maybe the next generation.

It's going to be hard to replace Ted Kennedy. Is Charles Manson free yet?

Maybe Putin can send over one of Teddies old KGB buddies that he worked with, against Carter and Regan, to take his seat.
Why go for a want-to-be Communist when you can get the real thing?

Don't worry the fix is already in. All of the B/S is smoke and mirrors for the masses.
Lets see if the media makes another big deal out of this farce.

liar liar pants on fire. he's not running. all the Kennedy family took their cue from Vicki and went out to individually greet people, and thank them, and share with them, instead of retreating into their own group. Thre was no shock, which forced the family into an isolated unit, after the deaths of JFK and Bobby. The whole aftermath of Ted's death was treated more as a celebration of his life, friendships, legislative accomplishments, and policy viewpoints and political philosophy. Even much of the funeral itself. remember these are Irish Catholics, with a very different tradition. It was more of a Massachusets and
Washington and Democratic event, to be candid - rather than a national one. They were among people who liked them and even loved them - and away from all the people who hate Kennedy family members. I never was a Kennedy-lover or Kennedy-hater (except for hating Joe Sr. for being a lousy father, implanting too much driving ambition and competition in them, to satisfy his unfulfulled ambition to be President - he would have been a horrible President! just as he was a horrible husband, a horrible ambassador, a horrible father, a horrible person). It is amazing that his kids turned out to be as good as they were, with all their faults. the combination of Rose's fanatic religiousity and Joe's unscrupulous womanizing and economic and political power-grabs made for an unhealthy family life, not a healthy one, as they tried to present to the world.)

The fault was in the bill passed before the 2004 election. the proper law would allow for teh Governor to appoint someone of the departing seantor's party, but only until the next statewide election where it would be possible to have a special election. And the appointee should not be eligile to run for the rest of the term in the special election. That is what should be done eventually. The Governor is correct in saying he wants an assurance that the appointee will not run for the rest of the term. The proper person to appoint would be a very high-ranking legislative staff member form Massachuetss with a mastery of the issues that will be considered in the fall. the Governor of Delaware appointed a former Seante staff memer who understands the Seante. Crist appointed a former staff member and campaign aide. So Massachusetts should have the same rights as other states, to have two Senators. As the Governor said, he was not involved in the prior law change. It is not his fault that the legislature did not do a good job last time becasue it was too partisan, nor is it the fault of the people of Massachusetts.
