However, Barrett would not produce the documents when asked by an Eagle reporter.

"I didn’t release this stuff [to The Republican] and I’m not about to now," he said
Barrett is a liar there no such documents or threatinig emails from Miss Eades

The Republican approached him?

I find that very hard to believe.

There are a couple of problems with this story:

1) How did The Republican approach Barrett about a series of emails? Since emails are private documents between a sender and recipient, how would The Republican get copies of the Barrett/Eade emails? The government can't get them without a warrant, but these just fell into the hands of The Republican.

My Opinion: A good friend of Barrett's, who works in the newspaper industry as an editor, was given the emails and popped them over to a buddy at The Republican. There's NO OTHER WAY a newspaper would have gotten these emails unless they came from Barrett himself.

2) Who in the heck do you people at The Eagle and The Transcript think you are? You may as well put "The National Enquirer - Berkshire Edition" as your papers' names. You're BS artists of the worst order.

The Republican of Springfield published the 7-letter word that Ms. Eade called Barrett in the email. It rhymes with grass bowl. BUT, you, the editors of both papers, Puritans Extraordinaire, think that we dumb, ignorant, hick, Berkshire hillbillies can't see that same word published. You put in your stories "[expletive]".

Apparently, we can't handle this slang term for a part of the human anatomy.

This morning, I'm calling and canceling both The Transcript and The Eagle. I don't want you [expletives] putting your [expletive] in your respective boxes on my mailbox anymore.

NOW, I know why my father read The Republican every day until his death at 88. He wanted the real news, not fluff, edited by people deciding what we should and should not see.

You people don't deserve a penny of my money for those rags you call newspapers. You should be embarrassed and ashamed of yourselves.

I'd believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny before I'd believe in Barrett.

The problems he's creating in his final days will only magnify the problems he's hidden for many years that we'll have to deal with. These are all Barrett's Christmas gifts to this city. Gifts that will keep on giving for years to come.

mr. trashman,

by cancelling your subscriptions to both the eagle and transcript you are disassociating yourself from such drivel. therfore, in order to make a clean brake, you do know you can no longer troll their websites as that would be so hypocritical of you.

you do know that, don't you?

newspapers have always tracked circulation as a means of measuring their success and subsequently setting advertising rates. however, there is an additional barometer and tool they use in todays technologically driven world, it's called website hits. both drive advertising dollars and measure redership.

so, as you rant and rave about cancelling your subscription do you also promise to never click on either website? huh, do you mr. trashman?

ignorant trashman!

If Coakley shouldn't have endorsed anyone in the Mayoral race then Kerry shouldn't have either. What is Barrett thinking? Just go away.

Not too hard to fathom.

Sour grapes John. Your political career is over because you did it to your self. You say that you" were bothered that Coakley who grew up in North Adams, backed the candidate that ended your 26 year career. Needless to say that you were not born in North Adams and did not attend elementary or high school here. Dick Alcombright at least was born here. So don't BS us. The other point is that you indicated in the Republican newspaper that it was highly unusual for a State candidate to get involved in a local election. Let me remind you that you were beating the bushes to get a John Kerry endorsement and he is a federal Congressman.
The way we figure it is that now that your candidate Mike Capuano is an underdog in the election next week, you want to get out of supporting Capuano to enhance you political power if Coakley gets elected which, I believe will be the case. You can't have it both ways and your reign of terror has ended. The best advice I can give you is, "close your mouth", there is a new Mayor in town that was elected by the people of this community.

Barrett has been there 26 years and you amateurs think that what he is saying is bs huh. Seek a freedom of information request and I gurantee you he will produce the emails. All of you haters and saviors out there don't want to get too cocky because your reign of terror on North Adams and the area will be short lived. And by the way dumbo, Kerry is an United States Senator, not a congressman.

Sorry, but a Senator is a Congressman. Congress refers to both the House of Representatives and Senate combined. You are either a Representative or Senator, and either way you are a Congressman.

Good riddance. We'll see if the Trashman really lives up to his promise not to come back. In the meantime, let's face it, neither side in this issue is clean. Eade quit her job in a huff over whatever issue and then actively worked to defeat her former boss, and according to the Republican article may also have been moonlighting with the AG while she was supposed to be working for the city. The article also says Eade is Coakley's best friend, not just a friend. You can't tell me Ms. Eade never spoke with good bud Martha about why she quit North Adams government before taking on a job with the AG, so there is lie #1 for Coakley. On Barrett's side, he clearly talked pretty openly about all of this to the reporter at the Republican, there is lie #2, on Barrett's side when he claimed he would not discuss any of this. Eade was peeved at Barrett and brought her best friend out, days before the election, to endorse Alcombright. Barrett then got Kerry to endorse him. Neither made a difference, Barrett had already lost the race long before. Politics is a dirty game, and the Trashman ought to stop being so naive and sensitive. Grow up, for crying out loud and stop being a baby. And if Glenn at the Transcript did know about this and tipped anyone off, it wouldn't have been the Republican. He's smarter than that. He would have run it himself first or if he didn't want to, sent it off to his sister paper, the Beagle.

From Wikipedia, the United States Congress is the bicameral legislature of the federal government of the United States of America, consisting of two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Both senators and representatives are chosen through direct election. In other words, truth not be told, a Congressman is either a Senator or a Representative. Congress is both the House and Senate. While people may commonly call a House member a "congressman" and not refer to a Senator that way, the facts are the facts, they are both congressmen, as "the Congress is the House AND Senate." Pick up a book on US government sometime and do a refresher course.

after reading the posts I giggled a bit and thought the poster "just wait" left me eerily feeling it was the former mayor John B...sequestered away in a darkened room with a laptop...sporting a disheveled look, hair uncombed and greasy...two weeks unshaven...and empty containers of take-out Chinese surrounding him...and by reference to "sorry's" post, again attempting to rewrite history and legislature as he "sees" it...not as it is.
