If people want to really complain about a miscarriage of justice they should do so about the Stephen Wolf case. He killed an unarmed 10 year old child who posed no threat and he was just aquitted.
Dana, I'm on the east coast. How did acquittal come about? Did the prosecutor sleep through the trial? Of course, the same thing happens here, I just don't think you can find real justice anywhere in this country anymore.
There was $$$ in this for someone.

He got his high powered attorney to have him declared insane. So now he will go to a mental hospital which is nothing like jail. I am sure when this case is no longer in the spot light the judge will suddenly say he is well and turn him loose.

"HB 2615 simply states that if a criminal breaks into your home, your occupied vehicle or your place of business, you may presume he is there to do bodily harm and you may use any force necessary against him. It also removes the "duty to retreat" if you are attacked in any place you have a legal right to be.
Further, HB 2615 provides protection from criminal prosecution and civil litigation for those who defend themselves from criminal attack. The "Castle Doctrine" bill met with overwhelming, bipartisan support, passing 96-2 in the state House and 83-4 in the Senate."
The 'you may use any force' part is what suggested it. That and the 'protection from criminal prosecution.'
You just typed all your own wording in a paragraph and put quotation marks around it. I know that you're lying or that your greatly mistaken and criminally ignorant of the law...because Ersland is not only charged with murder, he's in prison for it. LOL, nice try, liar.

And not one letter of that states that it is legal for you, once the attacker is incapacitated, to execute that attacker.
But feel free to find that wording. We'll be waiting...
He didn't provide a citation for his paraphrased self constructed bull crap. But, you're correct, castle doctrine and castle doctrine law provides no excuse for murder. This is evidenced by Ersland's conviction. This conviction serves to send a message to people that mistaken belief in the law is not going to save your ass come trial date.

So someone threatens your life to the point you have to pull a gun to defend yourself and your employees and you seem to think everything is going to go rationally. I pray that he goes free and they do not give the thief's mother any of the money her son couldn't steal. some of you probably think Mr Ersland now owes the mother of the thug for taking his life. They use to just hang a horse thief on the spot no questions ask. Didn't even have to threaten any one. Now you think he should have rights after threatening someone's life. Blows my mind.

If you don't know the difference between self-defense and murder, maybe you shouldn't be walking around without a sponser.
