Here's a really good and simple account of what's going on in the economy, what Obama's doing wrong, and why above all that we NEED deficit spending at this point in time, whatever the GOPee says.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dean-baker/the-...

"The basic story is incredibly simple. Demand from the private sector collapsed when the housing bubble burst. We lost $600 billion in annual demand due to residential construction falling through the floor. We will not return to normal levels of construction until the vacancy rates return to normal levels. Vacancy rates are still near post-bubble record highs.

We also lost close to $500 billion in annual consumption spending due to the loss of the $8 trillion in housing-bubble-generated equity that was driving this consumption. This demand will also not come back.

This creates a gap in annual demand of more than $1 trillion. The stimulus, which boosted demand by roughly $300 billion a year in 2009 and 2010, helped to fill part of this gap, but was nowhere near big enough. Furthermore, stimulus spending fell off quickly in 2011 and the stimulus is now pretty much gone altogether. This means that we are still faced with a huge hole in private sector spending."

Bottom line? We needed MORE, not less, stimulus and we need to STOP seeing this as a problem with debt. And that's where Obama has failed, because he's playing the GOPee's deficit game.

Wh ywould anybody worry about Sequester?
We all have plenty of guns.
That's all a good American needs is a gun.
Jobs, money cars, homes, that stuff is just fluff.
As long as Americans can have guns we will al be fine.
Except for people shot by guns

HAHAHAHAHA!

Let's see... the sequester was CREATED BY CONGRESS and approved BY CONGRESS with overwhelming GOP support.

Why would I blame Congress?

It was created by Obama, approved by BOTH houses of Congress, then signed into law by Obama. Why would it not be Obama's fault? It is not a cut that should effect any programs to starving children or education, it just means that the spending already approved will go up 98% instead of 100%. That is still a RAISE in spending. So if we could afford to have free tours of the White House in 08 that are usually given by volunteers then why can't we afford FREE tours now that we raised spending? Obama is acting like a child throwing a fit. For a president to behave as he does it is embarressing and quit frankly pathetic!

It was proposed by Sperling, accepted by House and Senate Repugs as well as by Obama, and was passed and signed into law. Even an idiot should be able to tell it was both parties' work, not "Obama's."

And the cuts are across-the-board cuts in overall spending, NOT cuts in spending INCREASES. That is a lie, obviously intended to minimize the effect on the economy.

But when you have Obama Derangement Syndrome as badly as YOU do, you have to distort every fact, and blame EVERY SINGLE THING YOU DON'T LIKE ON OBAMA. It's the only choice for you, really, isn't it?

Pathetic sums up your post.

No, dear, you'd understand this better if you had only graduated from your junior high civics class.

The bill was CREATED by Congress, passed by Congress- and it would not have pass in Congress if BONER hadn't pushed it through.

173 REPUBLICANS voted for it, honey, compared to 93 Democrats.

AND that was 18 months ago- Boner hasn't manged to replace the bill in a year and a half.

Not Obama's fault.

Blame the gas prices on Obama, that makes more sense.

Tours aren't given by volunteers and they do involve staff cost, hon.

The POTUS does his little PR stunts, the Congress and Boner does theirs.

I point AGAIN to the 18 months CONGRESS has had to pass a bill to block sequestration.

This is exactly what we are doing. Building our forces to take back this country. If need be by force. Like you most of the rest of us are just as fed up with hollow promises and inaction.. Now is the time for action. Only we have got to build up our forces and get organized. We no longer have time for stupid games and political power plays.
I am out to do what the Tea Party failed to do and that is get organized under one leader and one roof. The Tea Party had several leaders and when it came right down to it nobody was really leading and it fell apart after the election.
We need one movement with one leader to take us past the election and on to restoring our Republic. Winning the election is only half of the battle it is what comes next that will be the hard part. That is why we have to build our forces NOW and get organized now. We can't wait until the election and then sit on our collective asses waiting for someone to do something. We have got to get moving NOW and keep moving long after the election.

There are many Ron Paul's supporters who are tea baggers but where else are they going to go?
