Hey I hope all of my fellow CPP"S on topix will read this. People like this woman are going to make it even harder on us pain patients. Because addiction and abuse touched her life, she wants to put the blame on the WRONG people. This is not a legislation issue, its a personal issue for her and others like her. It says in the article that she wants a bill limiting the prescribing of medications containing Oxycodone to those suffering from "severe pain" instead of "moderate to severe pain" ANyone who has had chronic pain for any length of time knows that normally a doc WILL start someone off on the mildest drug that they think will reasonably reduce suffering then over time adjust the meds until sufficient reduction in pain is achieved.
While all of you who know me on here know that I am against the pill mill docs, I DONT want the government at my doctors appointment, or having someone who has been affected by addiction in his/her family placing the blame anywhere but where it needs to be, which is ON THE PERSON WHO CHOOSES TO ABUSE THESE DRUGS. I have all the compassion in the world for addicts and think they deserve treatment for their disease. But, just because they made a PERSONAL DECISION to abuse prescription meds, they shouldnt go blaming everyone, and everything else for their CHOICES. Then you get these legislators who seize on the word "epidemic" Lets look at the word "epidemic" which the media whores and our legislators like to throw around so freely, According to websters, and epidemic is a " Widepsread occurence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time" Sooo the "prescription abuse epidemic " would mean that the pills are somehow ingested without the knowledge of the person? If the reported numbers are right, they say that 30,000 people die every year from prescription abuse. While this is sad, and I feel for the familys who have lost loved ones, at SOME point personal responsibility HAS to be looked at. The influenza virus kills MILLIONS worldwide every year, that is a TRUE epidemic because no one CHOOSES to catch the flu. People over dosing on prescription meds CHOSE to take more than prescribed OR take something that wasnt prescribed to them in the first place. I dont know about the rest of you, but dont you all get sick of the curious stares you get at the pharmacy? Or the un warranted concern you get from family members who may not know or, understand the misery you would live with without your medications? The stigma us CPP"S face EVERYDAY is a result of the reckless use of certain words or phrases by people who obviously have no clue of how helpful these medications are to people who suffer. I'll get off the soapbox now, but i encourage my fellow CPPS on topix to read this article, and see what the potential damage that these irresponsible legislators are trying to do to us

Your sooo very right baybee, but, we have to get a voice ourselves or these misinformed legislators as well as the misinformed public in general, will eventually make it nearly impossible for us legit CPP"S to obtain the meds that give us some quality of life. It will get to the point were the only people who will be able to get pain meds will be cancer patients in a hospital setting. I hate reading these articles as well because they are so one sided and full of erroneous statements, and frenzy fueling mis statements of facts its sickening. Thanks for reading my rant!

Recently, due to
Medicare regulations my Dr opted out of the program. I'm scrambling for another Dr to take his place. Anyone else having a
similar problem?
