I feel sorry for Eric Massa

There are 9 comments on the The Washington Post story from Mar 10, 2010, titled I feel sorry for Eric Massa. In it, The Washington Post reports that:

It's been a hilarious few days watching former Rep. Eric Massa's self-immolation. His recollections of groping and tickle fights with male congressional staffers on Glenn Beck's show and his unwillingness to answer the "are you gay?" question from Larry King last night have had folks giggling -- uncomfortably, nervously -- since last night.

Jeepers Eric! I mean really....No one needed to know about Rohm's bare "tush". You could have told the story without "sexing" it up. Seriously, if you are or aren't gay, most of us don't care. What I do care about is the visual I now have of my (former) congressman and his staff rolling around on the floor in some sort of "pig-pile" tickling each other. I'm bothered by the "15 gin and tonics" and "countless champagne" consumed in one sitting. I'm disturbed that you expect us to believe these excuses. I am encouraged that you came CLOSE to being accountable, but close isn't close enough. I don't need to know your most personal secrets....but.....if you were acting the fool on my time, if you were deceiving your wife and family by living some lie, come clean. Don't torture yourself (and us) any longer by making excuses.

I remember listening to you talk at a friend's home. I was impressed. You made a point of telling everyone that statistically, when people meet a politician face-to-face, their overall approval rating goes down. You noted that yours went UP in that same environment. I understood why. You were personable, polite, intelligent, persuasive. What I can't understand is; what the hell were you thinking? To live in the public eye, seems to me, requires more than a bit of decorum. You must have been aware of the public nature of your work, right? What made you think you could act like that? Again, who you are attracted to is not important to me. What is important is the blatant disrespect you showed to yourself, your staff, and me, by not living according to the image you had put forth. Personable, polite, intelligent, and persuasive. I've said and done stupid stuff myself. I've lived with the consequences of those actions. I'm not judging you for making mistakes, I'm finding fault with you in not being accountable; completely and totally accountable. You apparently have been thinking about it. Just do it.

I am not the author of the article entitled "I feel sorry for Eric Massa". I did however choose this forum to challenge him to come clean. I don't hate the man. I was pleased that he didn't just roll over and tow the party line. I was very disappointed when I read of these allegations, this behavior is not acceptable.

Feminist and gay activist hate American men.

Juts think if gayism was more accepted like they want.

Then the groping would be rapant to their joy!

You must examine the deep psychology of these issues.

And.....STOP disrespecting our men and women in the Navy by suggesting this "tickle-fight" pig-pile you had on your birthday is somehow "normal" behavior among sailors. You had trouble "transitioning" from your Navy days....Quit it. I know thousands of sailors that would bust your lip for suggesting they rolled around on the floor tickling each other. Come out, fess up, and then shut up. The more you talk, the more I lose empathy for you.
