and what about Maxine Waters and John Ensign..get rid of them

Rangel needs to go, but he is too well liked for anything of substance to happen. It will be a slap on the wrist.

Congress won't do anything because they fear one day it could be them.

Nasty representatives we have. Corruption just like in Roman times, but this time we the public know about it and still it continues.

K Street Lobbyist go to the defense of (D) Charlie Rangel

By: Timothy P. Carney
Examiner Columnist
July 28, 2010

Every person accused of a crime or an ethics violation deserves a competent defense. Charlie Rangel's legal defense, fittingly, comes from K Street.

Two of the three firms providing legal counsel to Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., in his pending ethics cases are lobbying firms. In fact, one firm, Oldaker, Belair & Wittie, conducts much of Rangel's political fundraising, while operating four different lobby shops.

But who's ultimately paying Rangel's legal bills? Mostly corporate and union political action committees along with individual lobbyists. Over the past six months, PACs and lobbyists have accounted for a majority of the money Rangel's campaign has raised this year, not counting transfers from Rangel's other fundraising operations (more on them below).

In turn, Rangel funnels his campaign cash into his legal defense. In 2009, three-fourths of Rangel's $2.16 million in campaign spending went to legal fees. The House Ethics Committee allows campaign funds for legal fees that are not "primarily personal in nature, such as a matrimonial action, or could result in a direct personal benefit for the Member." Otherwise, legal fees are a legitimate use of campaign cash because "the protection of a Member's presumption of innocence in such actions is a valid political purpose," the guidelines state.

That means any politically savvy donor who cut a check in 2010 to Rangel's reelection knew the donation was, in part, a contribution to Rangel's legal defense -- indeed, in the first two quarters of 2010, Rangel's campaign spent $655,232, with $230,749 (35 percent) going to legal fees. Zuckerman Spaeder LLP got biggest haul of Rangel cash --$182,000. The firm had lobbying clients including one top drugmaker until last year, when the K Street legal shop de-registered as lobbyist.

President Obama praises overseas tax cheat Charlie Rangel for helping him close overseas tax loopholes

May 9, 2009

Rangel, of course, knows a thing or two about offshore tax shelters: He’d been operating one for years.

The congressman had to fork over nearly $11,000 in back taxes last year after The Post reported that he failed to disclose more than $75,000 in rental income on his Dominican Republic villa.

Plus, he’s under investigation by a House committee for allegedly helping a company preserve its offshore tax loophole — in exchange for a million-dollar gift to a school named in his honor.

Though perhaps that’s not exactly what Obama meant when he gushed that the problems with tax havens “have been highlighted” by Rangel, among others.

The Agitator and Chief continues to be out of touch with Americans.

He's playing a race game and the public is more interested in quelling the economic upheaval and heav debt he is instituting.

The public wants corrupt, liars out of office. Just because one is engaging, doesn't mean they are don't violate the rules.

When you have people in office for decades and decades, bonds are formed and those bonded will protect each other DESPITE illegalities.

Pelosi is afraid of black political leaders. Obama is a racist and divider in this country. Everything he does is about race.

End an ERROR in 2012, oust Pelosi as Speaker: don't vote for demcrats who would give her numbers to CONTINUE as Speaker.

Vote! Pelosi seeks to put immigration Reform in bills. Illegals will become legal with Pelosi. She can't be trusted. Just look at what NY congressman Weiner tried to do. He tried to link 9/11 responder money to illegal immigrants. He got caught and he through a little boy fit. He's a screamer a la Carville. He thinks if he interrupts, screams loud enough you will be convinced he is right.

Weiner-liar-sought money for ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS in the 9/11 responder bill

Weiner HAD THE VOTES to pass 9/11, but wanted 2/3 so illegal immigrants could get healthcare!

Watch the democrats...evil people. Weiner FAILED to give 9/11 repsonders their due. He hung it up with ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

THey look down on us! Like something is wrong with us, rather than them.

Screw these OUT OF TOUCH wonks, writers, politicans on BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE.

Don't donate to democrats, they can use their 'campaign funds/donations' for THEIR legal fees!

Look at Charlie Crist in FL. Got republican donations, dropped out as a republican and is running as an Independent and KEPT republican money to run as Independent.

Politicians are corrupt. They make laws that will ONLY BENEFIT THEM, PROTECT THEM. Screw the donators.

Rangel demonstrated a poor sense of Washington ettequite. Anyone inside the beltway would know that one should wait for the Money launderer from the PAC to come to you with the bribe. Not the other way around. It's so undignified, it shows Rangel had no faith in the established system of pay offs that the bribes wouldn't come knocking on his door.

Obama gets far too much credit for his mastery of the english language. He's not even that good a liar. What he meant to say was, my buddy charlie didn't even bother to hide his illegal activity because there's no chance of him losing an election or getting caught by law enforcement. I must now give him the rev wrong treatment where I must berate him publicly, but praise him privately until I'm out of office. wink/nod.

A Clinton Dem & Carter Dem call Obama: "Our Divisive President"

July 28, 2010

The former head of the Civil Rights Commission, Mary Frances Berry, acknowledged that the Obama administration has taken to polarizing America around the issue of race as a means of diverting attention away from other issues, saying: "the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats.

"... Having one's opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness."

The president had a unique opportunity to focus on overarching issues of importance to whites and blacks. He has failed to address the critical challenges.

He has not used his bully pulpit to emphasize the importance of racial unity and the common interest of poor whites and blacks who need training, job opportunities, and the possibility of realizing the American Dream.

He hasn't done enough to address youth unemployment—which in the white community is 23.2% and in the black community is 39.9%.

I would hardly call his use of the word "troubling" berating. He's making allowances for Rangel as he will Waters. Yet, he can start a beratement campaign against Arizona in the wink of an eye. He can demean the tea party without a second thought. Rangel is just a member of the gang of thugs permeating Washington. We have to be the gang task-force in the coming elections.

You know AG Holder is going to let Rangel off the hook just like the Black panthers. Rangel is 80 so the BO will tell him to step aside and everything is forgiven. What bullshyt.

Are all kneeger politicians crooked?
Almost all politicians get dirty in varying degrees. I don't think the general racial aspersions help although I share your disgust with the constituents of harlem, chicago and LA that regularly re-elect filthy career criminals like rangel, daley and waters. My father was a lifelong democrat, who when I was growing up, regularly questioned why someone would spend a $million to get a $50k/yr job. He also told me when the Republicans take over they rob the whole bank. The democrats are too stupid, and they just go for the cash drawers.
