Good! It is about time that the federal railway AKA Amtrak, stopped denying us our Constitutional rights. It is bad enough that we can not carry on board. What could a gun do, hijack the train?

I wonder: Are they putting those neat 'steal me' stickers on the baggage?
.
You know, the ones the airlines use so the diqueweeds in baggage inspection get to know which bags to rip-off?

A gun could explode (but it won't explode if Amtrak employees know the make, model, and type of firearm, and which container it is located.)

If the gun owner "declares" the gun to Amtrak employees then the gun will be harmless.

Airline quit using those stickers years ago. Too much liability.

And the United States should have disbanded the TSA years ago as well along with their famous 'air marshals.'

Oh? It's the TSA which is running the Amtrak security fiasco.

The TSA is just another $costly govt excuse to support gun control to ignore the right to keep and bear arms.

Hey wats up...

Now all they need to do is ban the railroad union
Stop subsidizing the railroad.

The people who use the railroad need to pay for it.
The railroad needs to learn to live within its means

Oh, I agree....who's gonna hijack an Amtrak train?

I don't recall ever having to go through a security checkpoint to get on a train though....have the times changed that much?

On TSA, I agree, pretty much worthless and undertrained. Another waste of our money on a "feel good" system that everybody seems to hate (go figure).

I was just stating that this discussion didn't fit this category.

Good lord, man!
.
Are you seriously stating that we ought give up the entirely socialistic and tax-subsidized jobs program that is Amtrak?
.
I agree!
.
Any 'business' which requires 'tax subsidies' to remain viable isn't really viable at all.

You should remember here that the POTUS has absolutely no power to raise or collect taxes.
.
Rather, that matter is entirely in the purview of the Congress, save for that matter of a veto ...
.
well the pres does get to sign the bill,
Does that mean he pays the bill ?

Congress seems to be doing a wonderful job spending money,
raising taxes ?
Lets see now...
How do we pay for healthcare reform ?

Pelosi wants to impose a VAT

That should add 20% to everything we buy including gas, utilities and food.

You democrats never met a tax you didnt like.

Pelosi, appearing on PBS’s “The Charlie Rose Show” asserted that “it’s fair to look at” the VAT as part of an overhaul of the nation’s tax code.

“I would say, Put everything on the table and subject it to the scrutiny that it deserves,” Pelosi told Rose when asked if the VAT has any appeal to her.

The VAT is a tax on manufacturers at each stage of production on the amount of value an additional producer adds to a product.

Pelosi argued that the VAT would level the playing field between U.S. and foreign manufacturers, the latter of which do not have pension and healthcare costs included in the price of their goods because their governments provide those services, financed by similar taxes.

“They get a tax off of that and they use that money to pay the healthcare for their own workers,” Pelosi said, using the example of auto manufacturers.“So their cars coming into our country don’t have a healthcare component cost.

“Somewhere along the way, a value-added tax plays into this. Of course, we want to take down the healthcare cost, that’s one part of it,” the Speaker added.“But in the scheme of things, I think it’s fair look at a value- added tax as well.”

Obama and the VAT: Now it’s Pelosi’s turn
Oct 6, 2009 12:12 EDT
Nancy Pelosi | Obamanomics | VAT
You can add House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the group of Democrats or Obama allies (John Podesta, Paul Volcker, Roget Altman) calling for a value-added tax.(I predicted all of this days ago.) Here is Pelosi (via The Hill):
