Here is an idea that just may save our country. Let's get this introduced in Congress. Congressional Reform Act of 2009 1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below. A. Two Six-year Senate terms B. Six Two-year House terms C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms 2. No Tenure / No Pension: A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office. 3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security: All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people. 4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.. 5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people. 8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/10. The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

ho is Nancy LeaMond? That's what I wanted to know after watching AARP's Exec. VP defending her organization's endorsement of ObamaCare to Joe Scarborough on Morning Joe today. Click, Wikipedia, click: whaddayaknow? Turns out that before coming to AARP, LeaMond was a senior Clinton administration appointee and a top Dem congressional staffer. Surprise, surprise! AARP members, when you call AARP to cancel your membership (1-888-OUR-AARP, 1-888-687-2277) demand your remaining dues back. They have to refund money for the remaining years of payment. It will cost them more to refund it than you will likely get, but that’s the idea.

Menu labeling part of Pelosi's health care reform bill http://www.nrn.com/breakingNews.aspx... Menu labeling part of Pelosi's health care reform bill By Paul Frumkin WASHINGTON (Oct. 29, 2009) Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi Thursday introduced a sweeping,$894 billion health care bill that also includes provisions for menu labeling. The 1,990-page bill outlines general nutrient-labeling requirements for restaurants and retail establishments that are part of a chain with 20 or more outlets. Those restaurants affected would be required to prominently post calorie counts for standard items on menus and menu boards as well as calories per serving for each item on a buffet, salad bar, cafeteria line or self-service display. Standard menu items are defined as those offered for at least 60 days per calendar year and would not include daily specials, custom orders and test market items on the menu for less than 90 days. Restaurateurs also would be required to post a brief statement regarding daily caloric intake “designed to enable the public to understand, in the context of a total daily diet, the significance of the nutrition information that is provided.” In addition, operators would be required to advise customers that additional nutrition information is available upon request. The Wall Street Journal called this bill the worst piece of legislation ever. When the government controls our health care system, they will control every aspect of our lives. We will surrender much of our freedom and liberty to the government. All freedom-loving Americans should be horrified by what is happening.

What does providing affordable health care have to do with taking away your freedom? No one's taking away your freedom. Get a grip, people. The people did vote for this government because of the promise of affordable health care, which is what this bill will provide. Every other Democratic and industrialized nation in this world provides universal health care - except us. Instead, we pay 50 percent more for a health care system that leaves nearly 1/6 of the population uncovered. You are being conned by the insurance industry, which is letting you do their dirty lobbying work for them.

BTW, communism is defined as "a theory advocating elimination of private property b : a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed." Again, what the heck does allowing people to obtain affordable health care coverage for their families have to do with a worn-out, rejected political system like communism? Would you please make one rational argument on the substance of the bill instead of this nonsensical crap about someone wanting to take away your freedom. Last time I checked, it was the Bush administration that essentially eliminated habeas corpus one of the pillars of our democracy.

You people are so wrong. I have NEVER spent a night in a hospital, take no prescriptions, have no disease of any sort and my wife is the same - we are both in truly exceptional good health. Our combined health insurance premium is almost 1000.00 a month - with a 1500.00 deductible EACH (which we have never exceeded). And we have no dependents. Fortunately we are able to afford this, we are self employed so no employer pays it for us, but we know that many people simply cannot pay that kind of money. This system is big time broken, anything they do will be better than what we have now.

Keith wrote: Kill the Republicans. They hate America. if you think that somehow not being a republican will save you from this fate , think again A Newark Airport security guard was arrested for making threats against President Obama on the eve of Wednesday's campaign visit to New Jersey. Gun-loving John Brek, 55, of Linden, N.J., was taken into custody after his co-workers reported a conversation they had at an airport coffee cart to authorities. He was charged under state law with making terroristic threats against the president. Brek is a Republican and a member of the National Rifle Association, his father told the Newark Star-Ledger. A search of Brek's home turned up 43 firearms - although they all appeared to be registered weapons, officials said. Obama is flying in Air Force One to Newark Airport for a Wednesday campaign stop with fellow Democrat Gov. John Corzine. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2009...
