"The newspaper said Platts made the list because he intentionally keeps a low profile, doesn't run political ads during campaigns, tends to stay away from House Republican leaders and stays "further than arm's length from D.C. movers and shakers" because he doesn't take political action committee contributions."

Ok, doesn't run political ads, distances himself from Rep. leaders, doesn't take PAC money. And where's the bad?
I doubt anyone will run against Platts next year. Avillo spend a fair amount of money and ran a decent campaign on the coat tails of Obama's change mantra and in a year when Republicans in general were hosed. I don't think 2010 will be a good year for Democrats to run considering the catastrophe of their economic policies.

I have no idea why ANYONE - Republican OR Democrat - would ever vote for Platts. The man is a mouse - never the first to stand up against anything. Never makes any statement until he is sure it won't upset anyone. Has he ever done anything about the scum that has risen to the top of the busienss world? Has he ever suggested that some CEO's need jail time? Has he ever attempted to contact the slime that is running our insurance companies and call them on the carpet over their greedy, selfish, currupt business practices? NO! He is a total doormat!

He's a Casper Milktoast. He shows absolutely ZERO leadership qualities. He remains silent while Cap Blue/Cross blows millions of our reserves! relentlessly raises our insurance premiums, lavishes preposterous bonuses on its Execs! Come on Platts! Show us your guts! Call them out on this greed-run-amok! How about proposing some legislation that would help us instead of sitting in your office on the backbench licking stamps on banal newsletters you send out to your constituents?

Why don't you take a shot at his seat, "Thou Brilliant One". We'll send you out the door like the other clowns who had all the answers. Some of us are satisfied with what Todd is attempting to do on our behalf. Can't satisfy everyone.

Well if you doe-doe's had to get by on a pension lacking $800-$1100 monthly LESS than what was rightfuly due, for the last 9yrs. and disabled, plus Vet of WWII/Korea, because of a bill HE sponsored and LET die in Committee by lacking to stand up to Waxman that shelved it, there would be a different thought and attitude to this Wimp who just slops around about doing things, with no gumption exhibited- NO vote here for his Nimbs or ilk ~! May talk the Talk, but doesn't walk the Walk~!

Maybe Platts was an independent-minded rep at first, but most often is now nothing more than the old "rubber stamp" on Republican policies, whether they help the people of his district or not. Hopefully someone will run against him next time and win. Phil Avillo was a good man, but hard to get traction in this area if you have a "D" next to your name, regardless of how good you are or what a sound platform you have. Love to see Gene Pasquale run against Platts--now there's a guy who's got guts!

as a matter of fact, I am thinking of running against Platts - just to wake him up! Believe me if I won, I would be at EVERY BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD MEETING, taking notes, asking the hard questions, and reporting them back to you. I would be introducing legislation to make it illegal to base health insurance salaries on the number of claims denied. I would pass a law that demanded that all board meetings be made fully public. In short, I would DO SOMETHING beside sit around on my arse and collect platitudes from sheep!

This doesn't surprise me. It would be nice to have a representative in Congress like Joe Wilson and do SOMETHING that lets constituents know they are there.

He's on the obscure list because he does nothing but try to horn in on the president from an aisle seat at the state of the union. No significant legislation, no money for his district, nothing. Another list I'd bet he would make is one his colleagues compile for "Least Respected Members of Congress."

I wonder why he won't release the names of visitors to his office? Too bad Congress isn't bound by FOIA laws. Nobody wants to know WHAT is discussed at these meetings in his offices, just WHO is meeting with him. As they say, if you don't have anything to hide, why hide everythihg?

I have news for those who think Todd's policies are so good for York County. Phil Avillo's platform was FAR MORE "Yorker-friendly" than Platts's, with concrete ideas for economic benefit to this area and ways to bring money in to accomplish them. Too bad the rest of York wouldn't give a decorated Veteran a chance..... So much for our rah, rah, rah here about supporting the armed forces. I guess it's true only if one has an "R" next to one's name. It would be nice if York Countians would look at a person first and their party second before voting. You don't vote a certain way just because your parents and their parents before them did. I myself would vote for a Republican if I thought he or she had the best interests of the working constituents of the district in mind. Unfortunately, whenever I study the policies and platforms of those running, it seems that most of the Republicans in this area are not in tune with the common people.

You must be kidding! The "common people" of this district know the real deal when they see it, and you can be sure the ultra liberal Phil was not it. Imagine an anti-war college prof running on the slogan "Send in a Marine." That's just a little ironic. I guess those of you who look down on the voters of this area thought you could fool them with such a slogan. Thankfully it didn't work. Avillo ran a bad campaign with ads full of lies and those of us who pay attention to the issues were glad to see him soundly defeated (and in a year when Dems across the country did very well)

Platts has it going on - and we will continue to support his efforts.

This guy has to be John Fishel's twin. Same cheesey slogans, same insulting attitude. He knows everything and the rest of you are crazy.

I contacted Platts office to intervene when trying to get Medicare benefits for my very old parents. It's nobody's business who I or what we discussed. There should be a level of privacy when constituents contact their representatives. Let him alone.
