What we need is a student bailout, similar to GM. We forgive all student debt and they pay it back later, if they can. If not that's OK too. Most people with college debt would support Harry Reid on this.

Sounds like a way to create a new bubble for taxpayers to pay for. Gosh, sounds just like a way to buy votes that are declining from the Obama score cards of late from the youth vote that have left do to the lies Obama told them.

The horror. The horror.
.
We are now a failed socialist society like the EU.
.
Obama has convinced the young adults that they are losers and need Gubmint to survive..
.
Perhaps this is the plan. Attitude is everything.
.
I see an attitude of losers in America. "HELP ME" HELP ME" Just like the Fly.
.
They are called Democrats.
.
Actually a "Failed EU style socialist" is a better term for a democrat.

100% agree.
Then, we can have the government pay everyone's mortgage and car/RV/boat loans. And, we'll just use 'free' government money to do it so it doesn't cost anything. It's progressively brilliant.

We could have done that already with the money Obama and Bush squandered on non government interest.

Like MCPatty says, we the people deserve ours. The government owes us to help with the high cost of buying new houses. Paying off our mortgages would help the economy and cost less than the GM bailout. I starting to like this progressive movement.

Don't forget taxpayer funded failures:
Solyndra ($535 million)
SunPower ($1.2 billion)
Fisker Automotive ($529 million)
Abound Solar ($400 million)
Johnson Controls ($299 million)
Brightsource ($1.6 billion)
Mascoma Corp.($100 million)
etc, etc, etc, etc..........
Just think how many mortgages and college loans could have been paid off.

We need to nationalize college education in the US and make it possible for everyone to get the education that will prevent them from becoming a Teabagger idiot.

Bankrupting our youth who seek education only shows the desire of the radical Right to dumb-down the nation and thereby obtain more voters.

Maybe you should've told Bush to spend his TARP dollars on mortgage refinance (what it was supposed to be spent on) rather than Wall St. billionaires, huh?

Your stupidity shows not everyone should go to college. In Europe if you don't pass the national test, you go to trade school.......we still need plumbers to pump out all the crap you liberals spew.

Obama promoting college debt refinancing bill.
Actually, the college graduates would be a lot better off if Obama would promote one of the dozens of jobs bills sitting on Harry Reid's desk.
