Another Moron at work: Utah Gop Rep wants to kill gay marriage in DC

Full story: gay_blog.blogspot.com

Marriage equality in the nation’s capitol, however, is too much for freshman Rep. John Chaffetz (R-UT, above), who is refusing to let the issue “go softly into the night“: “Some things are worth fighting for, and this is one of them,” said Rep. Jason Chaffetz (Utah), the ranking Republican on a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee that oversees the District. “It’s not something I can let go softly into the night. … I recognize the Democrats are in the majority, but I represent the majority of Americans on this issue.” Update: Rep. Barney Frank rejected Chaffetz's blustering. "For this to be overturned, it'd have to pass both houses and be signed by the president, and that's highly unlikely ," he said.

You people are loud, but hardly the majority. Most Americans think you are freaks and want to avoid you at all costs. Not to mention that Marriage is a religious pact between a man and a woman and God. Funny how the fags are interested in God all of a sudden?

A lot of people think your a freak I'd bet. Marriage is more than a religious pact. My tax dollars, and I pay a lot, benefit married couples, not allowing any 2 people to marry to enjoy the same benefits is not fair and equal treatment. If it is only a religious pact then the government should have no say and offer no benefit.

Civil marriage is a contract between two people and the government.

Religious marriage is a pact between two people and their God.

Gay folks already have the latter, if they choose it. We are demanding the former, just as YOU demand it.

You DO realize that there are millions of Gay Christians, don't you? Many of whom are closer to their God than you are. Persecutiona nd adversity can do that, you know.

The man is out to lunch. I wonder how many airport bathrooms he has "used" during his career. Gay marriage is here to stay. The sooner the right wingnuts realize that the better. After gay marriage is accepted nationwide I worry about the next segment of society the fundies will begin bashing for <insert whatever they think the Bible thinks is a sin>.

The very last thing a justice of the peace, minister, priest, etc. says at the end of a wedding ceremony is, "By the powers vested in my by the state of ... I now pronounce you married." IT IS A STATE ISSUE NOT A RELIGIOUS ISSUE. Now, if you would like your marriage to be blessed by a church you can have that too, but they are two VERY DIFFERENT THINGS!

Whatever happened to seperation of church and state???? I don't think the government has the right to make policy founded in religious beliefs.
I also think that every person has the right to equality under existing laws regardless of who or what they may be.

EVERY constitutional amendment to prevent homosexual 'marriage' has passed, and some with pluralities over 80%.

Yeah well the most liberal state, California, which I live in voted down prop 8 so the majority may of voted democrat but when it came to marriage they voted traditional. Just like people tell Obama haters get over it he won, I tell the gay people, get over it, you lost.
California is hardly a done deal- supreme court yet to rule, and if that fails a repeal in 2010 is coming. Not to mention that gays now have marriage equality in FIVE states, soon to be 6 or 7 or 8 or 9.......

We may have lost the latest battle in CA, but we're obviously winning the war. You're like Hitler hiding in his bunker insisting he's winning WWII.

Really? I do believe California just squeaked by on a 52%-48% vote. And most of the other states passed it with around 60%-70%. Try to get your facts right silly Willy....

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Taurus

If your goals are fairly modest in the short term, they are achievable and you're likely to get some praise for achievements along the way. If you aim too high too quickly, others might not take you seriously or think you're being uppity and you could come unstuck. It's all a question of attitude and approach. There are contradictory influences over the next ten days but there could also be good luck coming your way.
