Why would the Republicans trust them? We have been down this road before. They lied to Reagan, they lied to Bush I, and they swindled Boehner in the negotiations earlier this year. They tax hikes always come through, but the Dems always find a way not to cut spending. They have absolutely no intention of cutting spending now. The Republicans are in the same position as the Israelis: They have no negotiating partner who can be trusted to keep their word.

Both sides KNOW they must raise the debt ceiling. IF any of you think otherwise you don't have a clue how things work.
Without the debt ceiling being raised, America will lose it's excellent credit rating and other countries will STOP buying the U.S. debt (think about your own home, car) if NO bank bought your debt, you'd not have either.
Secondly, if you think jobs are hard to find now, if they don't raise the debt ceiling businesses won't be able to AFFORD a line of credit for their business, because interest rates will SOAR! so if a business doesn't have a line of credit to buy materials to make their product, they shut their doors and lay OFF more employees.
Social security and disability and veteran checks will STOP.
And it only snowballs and gets worse from there..........so yes people they MUST raise the debt ceiling.
Raising the debt ceiling is NOTHING new, past presidents did it often without all the fanfare.
Obama inherited alot of debt from Bush, but then went on to make mistakes and bailout banks and wallstreet completing what Bush started (they were NOT too big to fail) in my opionion. They should have put ALL the CEO's in jail, they haven't prosecuted any of them. That right there is WRONG.
There is alot wrong with Washington, but not raising the debt ceiling could actually be the nail in the coffin and then for sure God Help this Country and all us peons.

Oh lardy...... other countries will stop buying bonds....... cry me a river....

STOP SPENDING MONEY LIKE A SHARE CROPPER WHO JUST WON THE POWERBALL!

Offer tax forgivness on the trillions of US dollars currently overseas and let it come home to the rightful owners who can invest it here without worry of it being raped by the IRS.

I`ve already decided to vote against ANY candidate with a D or R after their name. It`s time for new blood and new ideas; we need to cleanse government at all levels of the liberal and conservative filth that is choking our country.
I agree but the two parties join forces when it comes to eliminating other parties from getting on ballots. There is a need for less restrictions on new candidates to run for offices. Campaign finance reform is needed.

Neither party talks about the economy improving and the revenue from a improved economy. Neither party has the ability to create a atmosphere for businesses to expand and create jobs. We have a government filled with incompetent people. So let us re-elect these same old losers next election and keep it going.

Believe me; you have no idea what I would ask for. With that said, it's easy for the Democrats to promise anything, since they don't intend to keep their word.

Neither party keeps their word! Both parties are filled with filthy, corrupt, lying, perverted thieves who don`t give a tinker`s damn about this country or the majority of it`s citizens!

That`s why I feel that independents and third parties should band together and file class-action lawsuits against those filthy bastards! The democrats and republicans are gonna be America`s downfall!

I agree with you on independents but I am not much in favor of more parties per say. The current two parties have been this countries problems and if they continue to be re-elected they will continue to be this countries biggest problem. I just finished watching The Fed. Chairman on Capitol Hill and had to laugh at the partisan questions being asked by these so called representatives of both parties. Our current members of congress are 100% jokes.
