Administrative Amnesty?

There are 17 comments on the townhall.com story from Oct 6, 2011, titled Administrative Amnesty?. In it, townhall.com reports that:

Recently our commander-in-chief has stated that some illegal immigrants are not a target of law enforcement. “Our enforcement priority is not to chase down young people who are going to school,” the president said in an online roundtable.

“We’ve tried to be as fair, humane, just as we can, recognizing, though, that the laws themselves need to be changed,” President Obama said, continuing, “we’ve got to have a pathway to citizenship and for legal status for those who are already here and have put roots down here and are part of the fabric of our community.”

Do not deport these people until they kill an American. California does not even want criminal aliens deported.

Obama is a joke. His decisions regarding his amnesty will come back to haunt him.

He wants the U.S. taxpayers to support his jobs bill. However the number of jobs created are less than the amount of the people immigrating to our country. It makes no sense.

All I can say is 2012 can't come soon enough.

He should be impeached now for being anti-American.

White House Holds Private Meeting with More than 100 Special Interest
Amnesty Advocates

Just nine days after publicly reiterating his promise to grant amnesty to
the more than 12 million illegal aliens living in the United States (See
FAIR's Legislative Update, August 17, 2009), President Obama - along with
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano - held a closed-door meeting
with more than 100 amnesty advocates at the White House. According to
statements from some of the attendees, Obama used the meeting to indicate
that he would "push for [amnesty] even as the health-care debate continues
to unfold." (Politico, August 20, 2009).

The private meeting was officially led by Secretary Napolitano, but the
president "dropped in" to address the gathering. According to amnesty
advocate Angela Kelley of the Center for American Progress, Obama's comments
reassured her that the administration is making amnesty a priority: "The
takeaway from today is they're rolling up their sleeves and leaning heavy
into the issue. He's doing this and health care. He didn't give an inkling
that he's going to back away from immigration reform. I think he's ready to
do the heavy lifting." (Id.).

At the meeting, the amnesty advocates used their time with Napolitano and
Obama to decry the administration's perceived emphasis on immigration
enforcement. United Farm Workers Union President Arturo Rodriguez indicated
that the amnesty advocates pressed Napolitano on "communicating the
importance of immigration as much as you are communicating the importance of
enforcement." Ali Noorani of the National Immigration Forum indicated that
he pushed Napolitano to take steps to further abandon meaningful immigration
enforcement: "There are lots of things the secretary can do in terms of
administrative changes and a lot of leadership she can exert." (Id.).

One specific topic of discussion at the meeting was 287(g)-- the federal
program that allows Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials to
train state and local law enforcement officers in the enforcement of federal
immigration laws. According to meeting attendees, both Napolitano and Obama
addressed 287(g), saying that local, frontline law enforcement officers must
be held "accountable" for their actions under the program.(Id.). The Obama
Administration has already taken steps to undermine the 287(g) program by:
(1) launching a Justice Department investigation into the Maricopa County,
Arizona Sheriff's Office participation in the program (See FAIR's
Legislative Update, March 17, 2009) and (2) altering the process that state
and local law enforcement agencies must follow in order to enroll (See
FAIR's Legislative Update, July 13, 2009).

By focusing his efforts on being 'fair' to people who don't even belong here, by ignoring the economy, the plight of Americans out of work, the disastrous housing market, the shaky stock market and the non-recovery, Obama is alienating alot of people.

I for one hope it costs him and other Democrats dearly in 2012.

It will, his poll numbers show that. But i also hope in 2012 some repukes get the door slammed on them. E-verify--which was almost passed, is now being held up by repukes , by the same people who supported the measure. They now wont bring it to a vote till mid next year,WHY,i have a few guesses and it isnt what the citizens want, its what the big $$ people want. They, just like the dems, need to be shown the door.

I agree. The corruption needs to go and the big businesses who rely upon black market labor need to adjust their business models accordingly. This issue is getting alot of visibility; the people exacerbating it will either see the light or come to regret their choices.

Stand With Arizona

The Obama Administration today announced a virtual amnesty-by-decree for
hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens, whose deportations will be
"indefinitely delayed". In addition, Obama finally announced a jobs
program - but for ILLEGAL ALIENS, not citizens - as those 300,000 illegals
will also become eligible for "work permits".

This action represents an administrative end-run around Congress, which
twice rejected the 'DREAM Act' in 2010. As disgraceful as is this usurpation
of Congressional authority, this announcement is even worse than is being
reported.

Our analysis reveals that - despite media focus of this action limited to
so-called "Dreamer" illegal students, this new policy, coupled with the
criteria established by the June 2011 "Morton Memos" which set up a joint
"DHS and DOJ working group" could expand this "indefinite delay" of
deportation to potentially MILLIONS of illegals - creating a new, massive
amnesty entirely by fiat, bypassing Congress.
