The sensible control is no control at all. Back ground checks are enough. If recipients want to carry without proper training, then they are in for a rude surprise at the time they need to react.I shoot at a range weekly, and perform reaction drills daily, like I would a physical exercise. I am confident that I can properly react in time to save my life.

The author of this article is either ignorant or a Progressive control freak. CRIMINALS do not obey LAWS. Thus another gun control law will neither benefit law abiding citizens, nor reduce criminal's actions.

"But no one has made a convincing case for high-capacity ammunition clips, such as Jared Lee Loughner is accused of wielding in Tucson that day, being necessary to any private individual's self-defense."

What Ted Rayburn fails to address is that by his own admission that the military and police carry large capacity magazines. That in itself justifies the civilian ownership of the same magazines.

Quoted from Supreme Court decision in the Miller case;

" In the absence of any evidence tending to show that possession or use of a 'shotgun having a barrel of less than eighteen inches in length' at this time has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia, we cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear such an instrument. Certainly it is not within judicial notice that this weapon is any part of the ordinary military equipment or that its use could contribute to the common defense."

So the then ask the question...is an extended or large capacity magazine "...any part of the ordinary military equipment or that its use could contribute to the common defense"...?

YES, it does.

I don't need some liberal/progressive/leftist control freak telling me what "sensible" is. There are already over 20,000 "sensible" gun control laws on the books now. WE DON'T NEED ANYMORE! In fact, we can do without most of them now.

Non PC truth coming: White people (who are not meth addicts) are the only people who can be trusted with guns because they use them for defense. Not so with Blacks and Latinos. The truth hurts.

Might come as a surprize to a racist POS like you...but there are law abiding citizens of every race...just as there are criminals of every race. The first gun control laws after the civil war targeted the recently frred black man so he couldn't have a gun. Gun control started because of racism.

Well put. I have black neighbors that have my back just as I have theirs. Woe be to the idiot that messes with their families while I am around. The same goes for my family if I am not around and they are. We live in a nice area with well kept property and like it that way. I have known them for 40 years and trust these people without question. Trash comes in all shades.

Amen. Glad there are many like us, of all colors, who don't mind taking the trash out.

"Judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin". Dr. King. I happen to agree with that, and I stand just to the RIGHT of Rush Limbaugh. I'm as conservative as they come, but I'm also a REALIST. There is as much white trash as there is black and brown. It ALL needs to be taken out and dumped!

Ain't that the truth. Contrary to anything they would have US believe. We are ALL in this together, and it would behoove us ALL to deal with it together. Not just gun control, but every issue. In the end gov't laws, restrictions, and regulations effects us ALL! Especially the LAW ABIDING!

These are as nice as you get for neighbors. We help each other out all the time and look out for one another. That goes for working on houses etc. In my neighborhood not all own guns but we all look out for trouble and handle it if it happens. That's what good neighbors do.

A person doesn't have to be law abiding or a citizen in order to legally possess a firearm in the US.

What the hell are you talking about? Are you advocating that poor people be paid money to live in nicer houses? Do any of you dunces ever think before opening those sores on the front of your faces? Crime rates are at an all time low right now, what "trash" are you talking about? Are you talking about genocide against people who have to work 8.00 an hour jobs, who live in crappy looking houses?

The thread is about gun control laws. No gun control laws at this point in time require citizenship or a law abiding test. Are you advocating a change to the wording of Amendment II of the U.S. Constitution?

Hey DICK...you ever read the posts in context...or the posts that others are replying to..?

Maybe you should do a little deeper reading before opening your pie hole and sticking your foot in it. You certainly do have a way of "reading into" a post...and must be the only guy "smart" enough to read the thoughts of others...between the lines.

WOW DICK...you really do have a comprehension issue don't you...? No where have I said anything similar to what you are posting...I'm sure you could find a class to take that might help you with that.

Regardless, the other poster stated that there was a problem with trashy "americans" and that they should be taken out. How do you propose to legislate who is defined as the trashy "american" and who gets to take the trashy "americans" out?
