There should be some sort of penalty. They forced through the approval of a procedure that may have caused additional medical expenses for the patients receiving the device.
And there should be some ethical standards for the lawmakers as well. It's one thing to inquire about the status, it's altogether different to bring pressure for approval, as it appears in this case. It's too bad FDA didn't record the calls for posterity.
