Congressmen want Fort Monmouth commissary, post exchange kept open

It's a long shot, but there's a movement afoot to persuade the Department of Defense to keep open the post exchange and commissary here after the base's scheduled closing next September. Full Story

These facilities NEED to be kept open.
The active service members of the Army, Marine Corps,
Navy and Coast Guard depend on them. The area retired veterans
depend on them even more. Without the patronage of retired
military in the area, these facilities could not have
operated successfully. Yet the BRAC people are oblivious to
the needs and desires of veterans when the arbitrarily close
these much needed facilities. While they're at it, they should
turn over all of the MWR (Morale/Welfare/Recreation facilities (golf,bowling,gym,marina) over to the Navy.
