List of legislation undone as Congress departs for vacation
The Senate in June and the House Agriculture Committee in July passed similar bills to set agriculture subsidy and conservation policy and spend almost $100 billion a year over the next five years for farm and nutrition programs. But the House Republican leadership has refused to bring the bill to the floor, fearing a rebellion from conservatives, who say it spends too much, particularly for the expanding food stamp program.
Fearing backlash from constituents in rural communities about failure to act on a farm bill, the House on Thursday passed legislation to revive disaster relief programs for livestock producers hit by the widespread drought. ButSenate Democrats, saying that the House should be voting on a comprehensive farm bill instead of a stopgap disaster relief measure, declined to go along.

the cost of money verses taxation for the wealthy would seem like a wash right now. double taxes on corporations, pertaining to dividends to shareholders should be eliminated to pay their debts. this country thrives on capital. so lets stop posturing to the morons.

The House on Monday afternoon voted to name a post office in New York and a courthouse in Alaska, and return at 6:30 p.m. to vote on a third bill naming another post office.
By unanimous consent, the House approved H.R. 3413, naming a post office in New York after Pvt. Isaac T. Cortes, and S. 1710, naming the courthouse in Alaska after James M. Fitzgerald.
The third bill, H.R. 3637, names a post office in Florida after Roy Schallern Rood, and was approved shortly before 7 p.m. by a 362-2 vote, the only roll call vote of the day.
In the 18 months the 112 th Congress has been sworn in, the House has introduced 60 bills to rename post offices. Thirty-eight have passed the House and 26 have become law. During those 18 months, the House has produced 151 laws, 17 percent of which have been to rename post offices.
They need a 5 week "vacation".
