So much for Obama's pre-election speech to the Sandy survivors when he said he will see to it that recovery from the storm damage will happen quickly, even cutting government red tape to get the job done.

Just a bunch of EMPTY PROMISES.

Dem pork fisheries in Alaska.. gets shot down....not the Sandy victims.

the ‘Sandy’ bill is laden with billions of dollars of spending stowaways wholly unrelated to the hurricane.... There’s $150 million in there for Alaskan fisheries. We knew Sandy made it to the Midwest, but Alaska? Marine projects from New England to Mississippi also made the cut. Also along for the joyride is $8 million for new cars and other equipment for the Justice Department and Homeland Security,$2 million for roof repair at the Smithsonian in Washington,$4 million for the Kennedy Space Center,$3 million for oil-spill research and $348 million for the National Park Service. Nearly $17 billion is in the bill for the Community Development Fund and social service grants, two long-running initiatives to fund liberal activists. Amtrak would get $188 million, including funds for two new train tunnels in New York unrelated to Sandy.... And of course some $600 million is directed to the Environmental Protection Agency to support climate change adaptation. The rationale is to spread the pork far and wide across the country to assemble the 60 votes in the Senate necessary to secure the bill’s passage.”

Every bill....the dems go nuts! I want, I want, I want....

Nothing about what's best for the Sandy victims. That's OK.......keep quiet about it and we can blame the republicans for not wanting to help the Sandy victims.

Congress, the house in particular, have the constitutional power to see the President can't keep all his promises. Obama can cut read tape in the agencies, but Congress is another matter. Given this matter appropriates money it is a Congressional responsibility. You gotta [love][hate] checks and balances. Take your pick.

The Sandy Bill also contains a lot of money for victims to rebuild their houses in the same coastal area, historically known as a hurricane risk area.

"The storm blew down my $500,000 house, with a tremendous view of the beach and ocean. I would like to rebuild in the same high risk spot so I can continue to enjoy life. I'm confident my fellow Americans want me to have a great beach view and will continue to send me cash everytime a storm hits so I can rebuild it again."

Well I'm just itching to take some food off my table to help them.

Eleanor, now even you know the red-tape deals with getting the funds once the House makes the funds available right?

The red-tape has nothing to do with Congress voting to MAKE funds available.

Eleanor, even you have to concede that the Pres never promised that he can make Congress first vote for a Bill to make funds available.

You do know Christie praised the President for meeting his promise to make red-tape go away. Christie said he had no issues with red-taoe right?

Oh wait, you know none of this, you get your info from FoxNews.

So you're clueless.

"Washington - President Barack Obama told emergency response officials on Saturday to cut through government "red tape" and work without delay to assist areas ravaged by superstorm Sandy to RETURN TO NORMAL." "There's nothing more important than getting this right," the president said at the beginning of a briefing with officials from the Federal Emergency Management Administration, the Department of Homeland Security, and state and local governments. "We don't have patience for bureaucracy. We don't have patience for red tape," the president said in remarks three days ahead of his election showdown with Republican challenger Mitt Romney."

You're an idiot. The red-tape dealt with getting access to funds when they are available. Do you understand.

The House controls the purse strings. They make the funds avaialble, and they set the requirements to get the funds.

At that point the Pres can help cut red-tape by the force of the Office to push buearcrats to cut the red-tape, phone calls, timing cycles.

The Pres cannot do the job of the House, which first needs to pass the Bill making funds available.

Copy and paste all you want. But first try to understand how your U.S. Gov works.

If the Pres could pass the Bill making funds available, why would we need the House? And would you want that power in the Oval Office? NO you don't. The Founding Fathers designed it to work this way.

New England, the Smithsonian, Kennedy Space Center, National Park Service, Community Development fund which was the largest request (a liberal organization) Amtrak, EPA and not red states, bozo. The Alaska request was by a democrat, we're sure union bosses are involved.

All democrat requests, with kickbacks involved of course...you didn't point out 98% of which are not in red states....as usual you stubbed your toe and gave yourself a headache.

If the dem congressmen want to help the Sandy victims...just put in something to help the Sandy victims and leave their pork for kickbacks out of it. Savvy?

You didn't mention it was a democrat from Alaska asking for the pork.........which is typical.

Everytime a bill goes through, the dems don't work on that specific problem....they start throwing millions in there to make themselves look good to their voters...not what's good for the country.
All bills which will spend taxpayer money should be specific to only one topic to prevent pork from delaying passage and pushing forward pet projects.

I'm going with Repub Chris Christie when he says "Look, I'm not going to get into what my conversation with Rep Beohner entailed, but lets just say I have no reason to believe anything he says".

Lets say this infighting is Dems and Pres Obama's fault".

Whatever.

You repugs can focus on dems, and pork, all you want. Regardless, it's Repub vs Repub when it comes to gettin this Relief Aid made available...."cause Obama didn't cut red tape".

LOL

The other half says its cause pork was in the bill and repugs refused to vote on dem pork.

Whatever. Let me know when you settle on a Dem blaming point.

Meanwhile, ignore...
Chris Christie
Peter King
and a host of other once "reputable" repubs.

I would think you repugs would need a scorecard to keep track of which repub you like and on which days you like them.

I hear Grover is outside the tent this week.

Then why are you saying his "promise to reduce red tape for Sandy Aid" has anything to do with passing the Bill to allow funding for aid?

Don't bother. I'm done here. I don't debate with the clueless for longer than I have too.

I don't hear Repub Peter King blaming Pres Obama. I hear him blaming Boehner. Don't know why you don't hear the same.
