GOP wants sequestration. This way they don't have to make politically suicidal choices.

Huck - I normally agree with you....but not in this case. Start off with a budget (which the DEMOCRATIC controlled senate has voted down EVERY time) that does not exist. You've watched MSNBC or NBC Nightly News too many times. The sequestration was proposed by none other than Mr. Obama...fact proven by Bob Woodward and the NY Times. No GOP input so far. Next - The "politically suicidal choices"....please explain. I will give you 3 thousand dollars (let's talk money the average simpleton will understand). Now, take away the equivalent amount of money that is to be sequestered from the non-existent budget (60 dollars). How hard is to adjust and make do with only 2,940 dollars instead of 3,000? Congress and the White House are using "The Washington Monument Defense" to attempt to scare the uninformed masses that no cuts in spending can occur.

You really shouldn't complain about people watching MSNBC or NBC to get their news when everything you've just said are talking points of dubious truthfulness taken straight out of the mouth of FoxNews. Probably not a good idea for you to be calling others simpletons or uninformed either.

Anyhow, 99.5% politicians--"democrat " or "republican"--are entirely bought and paid for by corporate interests which are one and the same. It's been that way for 50+ years. That you're so willing to trumpet the righteousness your "side" while assigning blame on the "other side" proves you to be an uniformed simpleton of the highest order.

We are the most broke country in history of the world.

Cutting 1% of a non-existent deficit budget isn't even a serious gesture towards fiscal and economic soundness and sanity.

I don't think most people realize just how screwed this country is. All of us are screwed.

We are heading towards total economic collapse. There really isn't much that can be done to avoid it. How and when it will occur is anyone's guess.

Be ready for anything, folks. If this is how our politicians react to a puny reduction of spending just wait until the dollar devalues and becomes worthless and the means of our country's power and prosperity is removed.

It will not be a pretty sight....

The two biggest Republican bobble heads standing together to blame it on Obama. What a surprise! One can't take a poop without the other there to flush it. One talks and the others head bobs up, down & side to side because that way they are never wrong. The good people of Virginia & this country spoke loud and clear in November. I say lets take the plunge. Major tax cuts across the board. If we're going to cut spending then do it. Massive layoffs, cuts to social security, medicare, education, everything. I've taken a stance bobble heads so do the same. Republican's want cuts so do it and quit blaming everything on Obama.

Fuzzy math I do believe. 200,000 jobs in Va alone? Obama just said 10's of thousands. Yet we are only cutting 1.5% of the budget? The government is WAY to big if these numbers are true!

Just checking but the last time I checked 20% of $3000 was $600 not $60. That extra 0 makes a big difference when the cost of living isn't reduced at all and gas prices continue to soar. When the people you owe don't reduce what you have to pay by 20% that $600 adds up quick. I am willing to take the hit as long as those making the decisions are willing to take the same hit. Pretty sure they wouldn't go for that party doesn't matter Democrate or Republican you start talking about reducing their income the majority won't buy it. They shouldn't ask anything of the American people that they aren't willing to do themselves.

Gnash your teeth, stomp your feet, raise your fists to the sky and yell....OOOOOBAAAAMMMMMMAAAAAA !!!!

The dollar is the international currency, it's what oil is traded in. The money we borrow is borrowed on interest that is lower than inflation, why do you think the chineese are keeping it artificially low? It's because we keep buying their crap and making them wealthier. Eventually, they're going to have to raise their interest rates, which will put inflation through the roof.(it'll also make their imports that much more expensive) That will make both currencies cheaper, and we'll be paying off the debt with devalued dollars.(cents on the dollar)

Don't get me wrong, I see the debt as a huge problem, but it's not simply Obama that got us here. The Bush tax cuts cost us $2.8T alone. The Clinton FTAs cost us in unknown amounts of labor revenue. And Reagan increased the debt by percentage of GDP larger than any president during peacetime, while installing the largest peace time tax rate. I also see spending as a huge problem, I think we should make wise but gradual cuts.

Like watching a soap, only the acting is even worse. Talk about posturing. The right has to cave, it has no choice, can you imagine all the DOD contracts lost as a result? The right lives for war and contracts, the only thing that keeps them in power. Just wait and see, Beaner will cry all the way to the white house for a deal.

DHS releases tens of thousands of criminal illegals held in jail for deportation as a 'budget amnesty' three days before a budget tightening of 2% is required by law. The moron in charge of the DHS 'dept of homeland SECURITY' this dyke needs to be run out of her office and deported to south of the border and her citizenship revokes. What homeland is she securing ? Mexiholes ?. All for a budget cut that may or may not ever affect the actual running of detention centers. Heck DHS only has to cancel the order for 1billion of the 2billion rounds of ammo ordered and the 7000 machine guns ordered for 'homeland security'. But no, they put thousands of criminals on our streets. Glad the gun control nuts didn't get their way because all border state citizens if they have them better load them up and be ready for the waves of criminals that law enforcement has set upon its own citizenry.

LOL. Not really. Go get a good gander at the federal budget deficit and borrowing right around WWII. It makes our current situation look like a loan on a '80 Chevette.

We are headed for collapse. But its not really preventable no matter what politicians do. I've been hoping for the doomsday asteroid for a long time now. I want it to be huge and I want it to land on my house. Its the only way out and when it shows up I want to be vaporized before I know its coming.
