Why don't these stupid Mexicans learn the freaking language? I recall a friend of mine said her grandmother refused to learn the language because of what the whites did to her people. I then asked her where she thought the Spanish language came from: White European People from Spain. The original inhabitants of Mexico didn’t speak Spanish. Even some of the indigenous people still there today don't speak Spanish. The European Spaniards came, took the land, put the people to work, and then finally got booted out, but lo and behold, they took your language away from you and left theirs behind. So in essence, a big piece of Spain still rules the hearts and minds of Latino people.

Now these stubborn Latinos are wasting our tax dollars on policies to address their incompetence. Their children hardly do well in school, most of the jobs now require Americans to be bi-lingual in order to apply, and now we have to print everything in Spanish. At this rate, 500 years from now, the Spaniards will have conquered our tongue like they've done with the "Latinos".

Why move to a country if you don't speak the damn language?

And I think it's ridiculous. I understand we get visitors from other countries and there is a barrier every once in a while, but to have our country be overrun by people who choose NOT to adapt to our culture even though they wish to be here- it's taking it a little far. I don't feel I should have job opportunities taken away from me in more ways than one. We compete for the same jobs or because I don't speak THEIR language I can't apply. I dno't understand why we cater to people who shouldn't be here in the first place.

I think it ridiculous that we are counting illegal aliens on the census anyway. They are not citizens or legal residents of this country! It also gives unfair representation in congress to certain districts in our country by counting them.

Most citizen Hispanics are bi-lingual so why would they need a census in Spanish anyway? I am so sick of this pandering to illegal alien Spanish speakers I could upchuck.

Could it possibly be that the difficulties in getting an accurate count of latinos in the census is precisely because so many of them aren't here legally? If you were an illegal would you bring your presence to the attention of the authorities by filling out an extensive census form givng all of your contact information? It has nothing to do with fear, it's simple common sense. As mentioned in the article, even those who speak only Spanish or some other language at home have neighbors or children who speak English. I fail to understand why the American government would provide forms for anything in any language other than English. The expense is astounding when you consider all the various forms involved. After all, in what language are legal procedings conducted?

how stupid do you have to be that you coming into a country and refuse to learn the country's language? when you're in mexico you learn spanish and when you're in america you learn english...not complicated. will the government then print in other languages also? why tailor only to spanish speaking/reading group? i wonder is mexico print everything in english, NOT? only america is so freakin "pc" that they will bend over backward for anything and anyone.

African Americans speak english. They dont need a translater. Mexicans who have been living here for more than five generations still do not allow their kids to speak english. That is why the schools had to offer bilingual education. Now the federal government is threatening to no longer fund it because it is not working because adults in the home do not speak english. That is their choice.
My heart really breaks for Theresa that she chooses to not learn english. In that case she should pay the cost of the spanish language form.

This isn't about learning a foreign language in your own country. It is about foreigners who migrated here, not learning ours and demanding that our country accomodate them in their native languge. Nice try but no cigar!
