So, let me get this straight? Floridians, except for myself, believe that drilling in the Gulf will lower gas prices? Why? I highly doubt the correlation. This country needs to suck it up and ween itself off of Oil, sorry. Stop listening to Rushbo spew his lies. This isn't a right vs. left thing, just common sense. Oil isn't the future, the future is now, leave the gulf alone.

The US currently exports 10% of it's oil. It's ridiculous to think, (should the oil companies actually not destroy our coasts in the process)they would keep the oil they discover here anyway. They would probably sell it to China.

This has Pelosi written all over it. If the state of Florida wants to drill, it should be able to drill where it wants AND the state should receive the revenue.

Pelosi and her gang are by passing the state and taking the revenue.

Florida is in dire straits. Inflation growing here, home sales non existent, high property taxes and a do-nothing legislature, that can't get its act together to relieve its citizens of taxes.

No wonder the people are leaving the state.

If there was some revenue coming in from the drilling, that would help.

Forget Pelosi, money that could be generated off the Florida cost would go elsewhere due to this bill.

Out with Pelosi. A do-nothing who makes us all suffer. She has no regard for the public, just for herself.

Put this out as an amendment and fight to keep the revenue that would be generated.

That's how this congress is. Stealing from the state.

Excuse me! The natural resources laying off the coast of Florida belongs to the citizens of this country. It does not belong to Congress, it does not belong to Legislatures of Florida, it belongs to the people. Now, if the Dems can't see that the people of this nation want drilling and oil NOW, get them the hell out of the peoples house by voting these idiots out, and install people to the peoples house who are for the American people. Americans want their oil and they want it now! We do not have to adhere to the oil cartels of the world. This newspaper report is another conditioning effort by the Lib led media.

"Drilling advocates say Floridians need not worry about environmental damage."

Didn't the oil industry make a similar promise to the residents of Prince William Sound?

Those residents then suffered through nearly 20 years of appeals and delayed justice to receive a mere pittance from Exxon-Mobile for the Valdez spill.

Rule number #1, Never trust the Oil & gas industry.

No, not all Americans want drilling. Too much to lose. But I guess some of us realize immediate drilling will not help us in the immediate future. We'd do better spending the money on alternative fuel sources.

Democrats don't want Americans to be in control of their energy needs. By choking off oil production, refining, building power plants and raising the cost of energy all in the name of 'saving the planet', Democrats doom working people to become dependants of government. Democrats claim to care then put in place policies that choke business and jobs. Get used to government housing, government food stamps, government cheeze. You'll never live the American dream with the Leftist Democrats in charge.

Yes, let's burn food for fuel and see the price of food double as it has under the Democrat controlled Congress. Yes, it was Democrats that killed oil production. Yes, it was Democrats that ran Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and handed out loans obtained by your tax monies to their cronies. Yes, it is Democrats who blocked new natural gas pipelines and natural gas power stations. Yes, it is Democrats that do everything they can to kill your job. Independent working people who keep their cash are a threat to Democrats and they want to kill you, your children and way of life. Vote Obama and finish the job.

It doesn't matter if they find 10 trillion barrels of oil anywhere within the US. The price of oil and gas will not go down. Oil pricing is set by the WORLD market. Not the United States. However, it will make teh oil companies and the politicians they own very rich. It will do NOTHING for anybody else.

Give those guys in the white lab coats an open check book and tell them to work on alternate energy ideas and hurry.

But IN THE MEAN TIME:
Sink the wells.
Pump the oil.
Today.

OK, Dino baby, why don't you lead the way and show us how to "suck it up and wean ourselves off oil." What is your personal plan? Riding your bike to work today? Stop buying and using all petroleum-based products like plastics, and that keyboard you use to type your nonsense? Are you really ready to give up all the conveniences and necessities that oil brings to your life? Maybe we should just shut down the economy for 10 years until all of these alternative energy sources are developed? You are not thinking this through, Dino, and I don't think you really want to personally make the sacrifices necessary to implement your "energy plan".

Nancy Pelosi and those democrats are insulting our intelligence again. How about drilling between 5 and 50 miles out, you know, where that oil actually is?

Why drill here and use our oil when we can just go CONQUER another oil rich country in the Persian Gulf. It wouldn't cost THAT many lives. Ummm....on second thought, I'd rather walk.

DO NOT SUPPORT DRILLING OFF OF FLORIDA COASTS! If they allow one company to do it, you're going to see oil drills littered like cigarette butts all along our state! Think about what you are agreeing to! There is not enough oil around here to do anything but destroy the sea bed and pollute the water. Also, as hurricanes get stronger, the potential is greater for damage to these drills which then increase the cost of gas and leave our ocean susceptible to pollution from oil from possible leaks. DON'T SUPPORT THIS!
