Listening to CSPAN the Republicans are whining about how the Democrats are making this a political issue instead of worrying about the war, economy, health care etc. What do you think the Republicans did the whole 8 years Clinton was President? What a bunch of hypocrites.

Are we going to let these Politicians continually dictate to US. Serioully, this man needs to be removed from office. He withheld info that should have been addressed immdeiately. He should know the difference between Right and Wrong and allowing this type of behavior to go on is WRONG.

Once again, Hastert feels that he is above the situation. It doesn't apply to him. He made bad decisions and should step down. I hope the local voters toss his bloated ego out the door. Jeesh, the guy couldn't even remember the words to the Star Spangled Banner. That was so embarrassing.

Amazing, just like the Repukes. They take responsibility, but there is no accountability. The funny thing is that they don't have to be accountable, we are too busy worrying about crap. When will We The People hold them accountable?

I cant believe all this information. Every singe one of these politicians are shady and full of crap, they all tell stories, or LIES which ever side of the fence you fall on. They tell BS to get people on their side, rarely do they bring to the table what they promised. I hate to say it but the younger population 18-35 has no idea who to vote for because of this. WHO CAN WE TRUST ? See where it got us today ? More in debt, more war and more people dieing every day. MORE BULL SH$T taking up the news. Who cares this guy was gay, he sent emails and now everyone knows he is an alcoholic too. If I have to look at this Pierson's fat head for one more minute I feel a heart attack coming on. END.

Unfortunately, these people are in power because the U.S. nation gives it to them!
Americans have become sheep, blind and apathetic to reason. We've become more concerned with what car to drive and how Paris wears her new dress than watching how many Americans (2,700 and counting) have died unheroically in Iraq or how are country is falling further and further into debt with foreign countries that HATE us.
Look at Bolivia, a "third world" nation, where the people were fed up with the incompetence of the government and they threw them out.
WAKE UP AMERICA!

Three words. Register To Vote.

Don't just cry on this board. If you are not a registered voter, your comments here mean "didley squat". The young people seem to be most upset about this administration, but you are just jerkin' it if you don't cast your opinion at the polling place

So it's OK for the Repugs to do it, but not the Dems? You're another fine example of a hypocritical, blame-it-on-somebody-else, ultra-right wing, "Christian" Republican. Mark my words: Regardless of the outcome of any investigation (which I doubt will even take place) Hastert will fully pardon Foley and anybody else involved. And Dubya has his speech all lined out: "You're doin' a hellava job, Dennis!"

Jeez you make me ill!

This is a direct quote from the article ""The buck stops here," he said at a press conference outside his office in Batavia, but added: "I haven't done anything wrong, obviously."

But he conceded that in retrospect, the situation probably could have been handled better.."

First lets address the "I haven't done anything wrong" portion of that quote. Actually, Mr. Hastert, I believe you have not only done something wrong, I believe it was a crime. The legal term is "aiding and abetting a criminal in the commission of an illegal act"!!! Foley was committing federal felony offenses, breaking laws he actually helped write while he co-chaired the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus. Hastert admits Reynolds notified him last year of the illegal acts being committed by Foley. His failure to duly report these crimes results in his being complicit in any of these acts committed by Foley after the date he was notified. He essentially helped Foley commit these crimes by not doing the right and legal thing, which was to report him. Ergo, any crimes Foley admits to committing and/or is convicted of, which occurred after the date Reynolds notified Hastert, essentially makes him a criminal too.

As to his belief that “the situation probably could have been handled better..” DUH

I second Alexander Hamilton - VOTE
