Obama announces steps to speed US oil production

Facing continued public unhappiness over gas prices, President Barack Obama is directing his administration to ramp up U.S. oil production by extending existing leases in the Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska's coast and holding more frequent lease sales in a federal petroleum reserve in Alaska. Here's a crazy idea. Limit domestic oil to domestic use only instead of allowing it into the global trade

Join the Republican Party and fight for the oil companies right to be subsidized by taxpayers. Clearly Exxon needs a subsidy from taxpayers, since they only made 15 billion dollars last quarter. Someone has to pay income taxes, since they don't.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. Remember the last time he agreed to more drilling? He's pretty notorious for backpedaling depending on which crowd he's speaking to. He's already cost Shell Oil almost $6 billion by holding up their permits in Alaska. They dragged their feet and stalled Shell till Shell had spent $4 billion trying to get permits approved for their $2 billion dollars worth of leases in an area that had 27 billion barrels of oil estimated on the low side. All because Obama and the enviro nazis want to force the fantasy of renewable green energy down Americas throat for their personal profit and gain.

The man who shut down US oil production and raised the price of gasoline (he'll never admit it) was forced to do this by the Republicans and the legislation they introduced this last week for more drilling. If they hadn't done that he would still be withholding the needed permits for drilling. The man is a complete FAKE TRYING TO TAKE THE CREDIT. Remember... it was HIS OIL MORATORIUMS.

A salted nut bar has nothing on you... or Obama. Tell us how the government could do without the over a TRILLION dollars per year contributed by the oil companies to the economy. Tell us how our country could do without all those high paying jobs they create. You couldn't even make your Communist comments without the oil needed to make the keyboard you type on. Look it up you uniformed Commie Socialist.. they give the government around $90 MILLION each week in taxes.

No. I was unaware that at any time US oil production was shut down. Please show me when that happened.

Since when can a President speed up private business? I mean when gas prices got way higher then now did Bush do anything that helpped??? No he didnt. Obama is even dumber then Bush and has no clue that unless we Drill everywhere and do it fast we will not see oil be affordable again.

The Oil Drill : Here’s how NOT to solve the problem of high gas prices.

Media writing rules: If it's an evil corporation, it’s a "subsidy". If it's a wholesome , wonderful gubmint ethanol program, it's an "investment".

(ethanol gets 16 billion in subsidies)

From what I see, US oil production is down 16% after the moratorium. Even if that was ALL attrivuted to the moratorium, you would have only been off by 84%.("juuuuust a bit outside, tried for the corner and missed...")

Administration Blocking 103 Gulf Drilling Permits

As oil prices continue to climb, a backlog of more than 100 offshore drilling plans for the Gulf of Mexico are awaiting approval from the Obama administration, according to federal data.

The federal government has not approved a single new exploratory drilling plan in the Gulf of Mexico since lifting its deepwater drilling moratorium on Oct. 12. There are currently 103 plans awaiting review by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement.

The information reveals that the Obama administration — not the oil industry — is the culprit for the slowdown of drilling activity in the Gulf. The Gulf of Mexico accounts for more than 25 percent of domestic oil production.

“These new findings prove that BOEMRE cannot claim it isn’t receiving job-creating plans from oil exploration and production companies,” said Gregory Rusovich, chairman of the Business Council of Greater New Orleans and the River Region.“The plans are there. Until BOEMRE reviews the 103 plans awaiting approval, our economy’s stability remains in jeopardy.”

What do you call it when a president and political party won't allow oil drilling off the shores of California, the Gulf Coast, the East Coast and Alaska?

But he also subsidizes a foreign country with our money so they can drill and tells them we will buy their oil as soon as it's flowing... whats that called?

Drill now and drill everywhere oil is should be our policy...Now I dont know for sure if oil prices will go down but atleast we can use American oil instead of oil from enemy nations...
