I certainly don't agree with anyone making threats, but it is becoming more and more obvious to these politicians what the majority of the people in this country think of their health care bill. The reason he is not holding any town hall meetings is because he knows exactly what the overwhelming majority of the people in his district is going to say. Taking phone calls and emails.....what a coward, I have no respect for a man like that.

It is a sad state of affairs in Washington when a political party gains control of both the legislative and executive branches and then stops listening to the people who elected them in favor of their own agenda. Whether you were in favor of or against the Iraq war - Bush pushed his agenda. Whether you are in favor of or against health care reform - Obama and the Democrates are pushing there own agenda. Too many in congress have been there far too long (see Pelosi, Reid, Dingle, Frank and too many others to count. TERM Limits for Congress just like the President!

Health Care is a very important issue. Most people that are buying health insurance on the open market for their families are paying more than their mortgages, some that buy it through their employers are also paying huge amounts.

The Democrats have put forth a bill that makes some incremental steps to solve the problem. All I get from my Republican senators is that Health Savings accounts will solve the problem. We've had HSAs for years now and they haven't solved the problem. Calm down folks, read the bill and then talk with your representatives about what you do and don't like about it. And suggest how you would solve it if you don't like what has been proposed.

really, Joe?
After everything you've seen on the news about town halls, do those look remotely productive to you?
right now, they have just been venues for people to rudely and loudly disrespect civil conversation.
if this loud, discourteous discourse is your definition of productivity, then you don't need a town hall for that - a town hall is meant for discussion, which clearly has not been happening across the country because of some radical and careless people who attend these town halls.
instead, if yelling us your type of thing, feel free to exercise your rights via protest, but don't encourage a town hall where the congressman will undoubtedly be constantly interrupted and unable to actually discuss healthcare.

do we have anyone in Washington with a backbone to stand up to stop this RUSH on this health care? there are so many people it would affect adversly. who do the people in Washington work for? The Pres? NOPE! the people pay their salary, AND their health care, AND their pension. we should all be so lucky. if they were going to be covered by this "policy" they wouldn't like it either. it doesn't affect them. shame on the people with their threats, that never does any good. but, i understand their frustration

Congressman Moore, please do stay home. These town hall meetings have become too dangerous for everyone. I'll be glad to answer any survey you might send to my household.

As good as the Overland Park Police are, would it also be a good idea to invite the FBI to help determine who made the threats and why? Were the threats paid for by some other person or organization? I'm sure people are thinking that and we'd like to know.

All national health care systems lead to rationing. Show me one that doesn't. The "public option" says Representative Barney Frank is the best path to single payer government run health care for everyone. Candidate Barack Obama said the same thing in speeches to his supporters.Democratic party proponents of nationalized health care have a plan. The public option is the first step in that plan . Once that is in place, the private systems will fall one by one, unable to compete with the power of government. The promise to "keep your current plan" will be an empty promise because it will no longer exist.

A National helth care system will be wonderful if you never get cancer, need heart surgery, a hip replacement or have some other serious medical need - or get too old. There are much better ways to lower costs, starting with tort reform, and co-ops. Is it better to have great health care for most or a lousy system for everyone?

Time to clean house....throw all incumbants...... Dems and repubs, out in 2010 Then weed some more out in 2012, with Washington being run by adults once again. The town halls didn't get rough until Obama sent in the Union thugs. I'll not again buy an american-made vehicle.

Who would these ignorant hicks be? And do you think you'd really be better off having this reported to the FBI because you just made a death threat? And the FBI is in charge of internet crimes.

Barnie, Let me give you hint. These town hall meetings are for the People to be heard. Not for the IDIOTS in Congress to be heard. OK! If they don't show up, we'll have with an empty chair showing that the Congressperson wasn't brave enough to come and discuss the details of the bill with candidness. The Congressmen facing these loud crowds aren't listening, and it angers people. ANd it should anger people. And they should speak out loudly about it. THEY WORK FOR US! NOT YOU! NOT THAT PERSON OVER THERE! ALL OF US! They are required to show up and speak candidly, honestly, and stop avoiding the tough questions. THIS IS NOT THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA> THIS IS THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SPEAKING! THIS IS A REAL CONCERN FOR PEOPLE! And the congress has an obligation to listen, and if they don't, 2010 can't come soon enough!

The people have had enough talking points. There are specifics in the House Bill that they Democrats are cowering from. When these town halls first started, I doubt even 10% of the House had read the bill in full. I bet almost all of them have now! And if they have read the bill, then the Congresspersons themselves will be informed on why people are asking these questions. It is not the Peoples' responsibility to listen. WE have listened. IT IS THEIR TURN NOW TO LISTEN! IT IS NOT OPTIONAL!

I don't condone that someone made a death threat to Dennis Moore, but he has abandoned the people he has represented will now have to face the People head on. And he better be there and listen. And he had better not treat the people with discontent, or he's out in 2010. Specter already did it. Doggett already did it. The Congresswoman in Florida stacked the deck. These are the ones out in 2010. Specter abandoned the people when he switched parties. He's done. Dennis Moore, if he does the same kinds of things that Doggett did and a few of the others, he's out too. He has to be there or there will be all over youtube a townhall meeting with an empty chair where Moore would be. And he'll be out.

An utterly spineless response and a bad and disappointing example for all of us who supported the Democrats and their agenda during the last elections.
The brownshirts of the Nazi party disrupted public meetings in Germany in the 1920 and 30's and you know what happened.
Are we going to let noisy and obnoxious extremist disrupt meetings in our country as well? I agree that a public meeting hosted by Rep. Moore may turn somewhat uncomfortable for him but its not exactly that his life is in danger.

Maybe I am just not as experienced with the United States as I should be... but I find this opposition to national health care alarming. Here in Canada, we have national health care and it works wonders. And yes, before you go there, just like any system that exists, there are flaws. But I have never heard of anyone needing to take another mortgage out or loan from a bank if they get cancer... yes, cancer (cousin survived cancer because of it) National health care takes care of that. The eldery receive the same attention and services as a new born baby. Our wait times for some things may be a bit longer then down south but my children will never go hungry because mommy got sick. No paper work... I just swip a card whenever I need to go to the doctor/hospital and away I go.

Let me give you an example (with timelines and costs) of what occurred to my daughter when she was born:

June 30th, 2009 at 7:21 AM - Daughter born
July 2nd, 2009 - Diagnosed with bi-lateral cataracts
July 10th - Taken to Children's hospital for first surgery (left eye) and stayed two days in hospital (with accomindations for my wife)
July 14th - Went back to Children's hospital for second surgery (right eye)and stayed two more days at hospital with accomindations for my wife again
July 30th- Fitted and ordered contacts

Total cost of all of this (especially for how rare this disorder is and including receiving the contacts for my daugher)- NOTHING

I mean, how can you argue against that?

Comparing the United States to the USSR??? There is no comparison of this country to the horrors of the Iron Curtain and it is cruel to the memory of those that had to live in that country during that time. If you honestly think that our country will really fall that far then you have lost it.

Americans don't want a 1000 page bill no one understands. What we want is a way people that don,t have Health insurance can be able to purchase it, who can't afford it, using the same standards the government uses to determine who qualifies for welfare. The rest of us are just fine!
