Apparently, stupid enough to enable a PFC to have, and be able to release, military records of the torture, inefficiency, waste, and plain lying that the U.S. doesn't want the People to know.

Pretty stoopid.

So this is the U.S military, eh? Kind of pathetic.

Almost ten years ago, nineteen smallish men armed with box-cutters allegedly manage to evade our multi-trillion dollar defense-intelligence apparatus and, get this, they even take a chunk out of military headquarters, almost an hour and a half after the first signs of trouble!! And it's not like it's a complete surprise, either. We find out that there have been all kinds of warnings, and that some are very specific!

But is anyone in our much vaunted military held accountable? Well, lessee here...

General Richard Myers was in charge of the Pentagon on 9/11, and he was PROMOTED to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff AFTER going his magnificent "failure".

And General Ralph Eberhart, in charge of U.S. air "defenses" on 9/11, was PROMOTED to lead the new USNORTHCOM because he so clearly demonstrated that he was up for the job...right?

Over at the National Military Command Center, Captain Charles Leidig was asked by Brigadier General Montague Winfield the day before 9/11 to babysit the NMCC on that fateful day. Later on, both these fellas are PROMOTED, presumably because they did such a helluva job!

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question. Surely someone was DEMOTED or otherwise held accountable for failing to defend our nation, right? No, actually, not a single soul was held accountable.

(Perhaps I'm being unfair to pick on our military. After all, CIA Director George Tenet also managed to swing a Presidential Medal of Freedom for doing such a fine job! National Security Adviser Condi Rice gets PROMOTED to Secretary of State! President Bush gets to steal his second election (or did the American people actually elect him this time, after he demonstrated so many, um,'successes'?), and the V.P. gets his own branch of government!)

And the list of promotions goes on.

But then we've got this U.S. Army private (with access to damaging classified information?!?) that comes along and allegedly leaks documents detailing crimes and incompetence at the State Department and military, and our boys in the military want him imprisoned/tortured/executed.. .

Any of you soldier boys out there want to explain any of this to me? Because I'm beginning to suspect that the one thing you are guaranteed to get while serving in the U.S. military is some kind of head-injury, although perhaps it's also a prerequisite.
