When this Libya thing started and the rebels were getting hammered, there was a consensus that our involvement was only to take out Libya's air force and its' capability to bomb and straff without discrimination. We have now escalated the action that includes the killing of Libyan civilians, which constitutes an act of war. The excuse of " collateral damage " doesn't nullify the pent-up hatred felt toward the U.S.A. We were not attacked and Quadafi gave up his neuclear ambition to satisfy the West. If we wage war on every dictator that doesn't dance to our tune, we'll have a hellava long list.
Yes,the original reason to have paid Libya a visit was to have set up a no fly zone.

An Apache can take out targets from 8000 meters at night. Shoulder fired AD missiles are good for about 2000 meters only if you can see the target.

I don't think France or the UK have Apache helicopters. I wonder where they plan to get them.

Oh, BTW, obama said US involvement was just a few weeks. How long have we been in this?

How typical of some hypocrites. First invade a country, send your troops in amongst rebels, fight with them on the ground while you bomb them silly from the air, try to kill the leader and kill his family, THEN start worrying about the consequences when you don't win outright as planned?

Must be the Western mindset. No one said Ghadaffi was an innocent, but he did not invade another country. Only the USA and its allies can get away with that. When Germany invaded Poland it resulted in a world war. Heaven alone knows what consequences will meet the world because of this sustained violation of another country's international rights. It is killing democracy, that it is.

Why is the war over, did I miss something or haven't I left you mob long enough to see out the window into our disaster of our world that we the workers so to speak, that are used by politicions to remind us they are thinking of us, enough that we get used by them in election campaigns to remind us they care, whilst they plunder our countries wealth in their feeble attempt at successfully running a business empire that other countries asphire to be.

There are private contractors who can supply any war zone so a few Apache helicopters should be no problem ;In whose countries colours do you want them painted in ?
Each customer should also receive their complementary set of steak knives with each contract.

Latest generation Russian and Chinese made shoulder launched anti-aircraft missiles have a range of over 10,000 meters, and are heat and radar seeking. They can take out those copters in the dead of night before the copters can fire a single shot, and it is estimated that Gadhaffi has over a thousand of them! I would not want to be a NATO pilot for these missions. Get ready for some real fireworks!

Wow, if they are really that good, then NATO planes should be dropping out of the sky like bird shit. How many have been shot down so far?? Ten zillion?

What started out as a "protection of civilians" has now morphed into a war against the Gadhaffi regime. Pro-regime civilians are not important to NATO and they are subject to be killed by bombs.

Simple answers: leave Africa alone. Leave the Muslims alone.
I think the world would leave Muslims alone and respect them if it were not for the radical few that yell and scream about the Koran saying to kill the infedels and crap like that. Then they even kill their own brothers as in Pakistan so of course other countries get involved to help protect the innocent ones that ask for help. Yes there are bad politicians in north america as well and they should be dealt with and ousted from the government but they have not singled out innocent people and killed them.

I get so tired of the radical muslims that give all muslims a bad name when their answer to everything is jihad or kill the infidel without concidering where the problem is. You just have to watch the video clips how some of them go crazy and shoot guns just to celebrate someone getting killed, that is aweful. I have talked to many muslims that I would concider my friend and they do not know where these radicals are getting the information that their bible says to kill specifically Americans as when the bible was written there was no Americas. They are just as frustrated but have shown me that there is hope from high ranking clerics that are trying to reteach the younger generation where the truth is.

These new shoulder launched missiles are not fast enough to catch high altitude jet fighter aircraft. They are ideally suited however, to take out slow moving commercial jets, propellor driven aircraft, and especially helicopters.

I would not be surprised if Gadhaffi has sent out terrorist units to do just that. Remember the West has already killed a few of his children, and that could make even a normal sane ruler quite vengeful. Remember that Pan Am bombing over Lockerbee?
