Shoulder launched missiles will take a helicopter out in less than 20 seconds, and Gadhaffi has thousands of them! Get ready for even more bloodshed.

I think Obama actually likes Gadhafi. He also likes Sarcosy.(sp??) The president of France likes the U.S., wants to use our military for France's benefits. France did not like the U.S. forever, but now that the European countries are going under from globalization, losing their jobs to China same as the U.S., and due to their big social programs, now France likes the U.S.- our huge military at least. Which is why Obama had to go into Libya, sort of, but he likes Gadhafi but he has to play nice with France, he has to do what NATO wants to an extent.

As far as all of these wars for oil, what to do? It's wrong, it's right, if we don't do so, China will, another country will, the native people in these countries won't ever use the resources, the white countries do, China does now, so what is wrong and right and good and bad?? Wars for oil, not using oil, stop using oil, China getting the oil, the U.S. getting the oil?? Is it better China is the world economic leader having no human rights and no intention of carryig one thing about spending one cent keeping peace in the world, and their carbon driven economy having no pollution controls or is it better that the U.S. have that roll or is it better to leave Africa alone?? Big question hah?? NO real answer to it. It's a matter of who thinks what about what.

you have it all wrong it isnt about oil it is about how the oil is paid for iraq was invaded under the pretense of weapons of mass destruction there werent any as was later found out the truith was saddam didnt want dollars for oil he was trying to convince opec to switch to the euro libya didnt want dollars and didnt want euros either he wanted gold nato couldnt stand by and not be able to buy oil so the cia went into libya to start a revolution and thats where we are at now in the uncomfortable posistion of supporting rebels that are the minority and nato couldnt let them loose but as history has proven from the adventure in south east asia you cant win with out the support of the people and the colonel has that otherwise he couldnt ride around waving to the people but now he cant do that because of the bombing and targeting of him

You are right, but so am I. It is over oil, it's ALWAYS over oil. You are correct. When U.S. debt was called in in the 1970s, Nixon took the U.S. off of the gold standard. He had Israel start the six day war to get Saudi Arabia mad at us to put into action a deal where the Saudis would only take U.S. dollars for oil, replacing the gold standard with the oil standard. You are correct. Saddam would not sell the U.S. oil and would have shifted the oil standard to the Euro, taking the U.S. dollar down as the world's currency. I didn't know Gadhafi wanted gold, neither the Euro nor the dollar. Didn't know that. So that's what it is all about. I see.

I wonder if NATO understands that it has lost the war. Even if Qaddafi is killed which would be a miracle, there is no chance at all that the regime will collapse.

Simple answers: leave Africa alone. Leave the Muslims alone.

What should concern all people who love freedom, is how the western countries are willing to use violence to force their will of 'democracy' on another country

Once a western country like USA resorts to violence to FORCE democracy..then it is no longer freedom but tyranny.

When this Libya thing started and the rebels were getting hammered, there was a consensus that our involvement was only to take out Libya's air force and its' capability to bomb and straff without discrimination. We have now escalated the action that includes the killing of Libyan civilians, which constitutes an act of war. The excuse of " collateral damage " doesn't nullify the pent-up hatred felt toward the U.S.A. We were not attacked and Quadafi gave up his neuclear ambition to satisfy the West. If we wage war on every dictator that doesn't dance to our tune, we'll have a hellava long list.
