If you're in the higher bracket, then I understand but just think if you wren't? Be grateful for what you have.
Divorced, I went from a very big high to an all time low, but I am working and paying my own way, house paid for and car is paid for.
Just making it.
So I understand the poverty level. It's an easy ride up but a bumpy ride down.
Hard to come down

I know it makes me sound mean and perhaps I am a little bitter but I find it is for the most part due to bad decisions. That is what lands people on the bottom.

I don't think you're mean and bad decisioins do make for a disaster.
You're just venting, as is everyone on these blogs.
Like my decision to marry the man I married, bad decision and it landed me at the bottom of the ladder.
To me, and this may sound weird, but money is just to live and I don't think it brings happiness. As long as I have my HEALTH, I feel very fortunate.

I have been married for nearly 20 years. We are happy and content. I started my small business in 91. I have paid my fair share time and time over. I am now semi-retired living in S. Florida where I was born and raised. I see the people that live off of the state now are the same people that were in 91. These programs are merry go rounds and until we make people earn what they get.. the go round never stops

The big problem is that the system never follows up on the recipients of welfare and the such.
A lot of fraud and not enough workers to check.
Pathetic. This os why prices are up
Glad you're happy and good luck with your business.

I agree 100%. We keep handing out everything these people need, so why would they want to change? The money tree keeps sprouting green at my expense and your expense. If the government won't change and insists on handing out free money, then fine, but we better attach 50 stipulations to it. Make them pick up trash. It's not like they have a job. Make drug testing mandatory. You want free money, you're going to have to at least do something for it. I'm tired of these people milking the system and giving nothing back in return, ever.

BizzyBee you are so very right. Wife worked for the state school foods program and she would come home every day and tell me about storage spaces full of food that the state bought and let spoil. It starts with the state and trickles down. I have a family member that was born without legs. Great girl she is but even though she is disabled.. has had a job since she was 17. She didn't get a pitty me job but a real job and works harder than most able bodied people I know and that includes me. So in short I think that pitty is what these people are getting. They are slaves of the state and the sad part is they don't see it.
There are people like you out there who have worked and worked and have not gained that top shelf goal but most are not you. I think you know that and that is why you are proud of who you are. I would have no problem helping someone like you out and would even do it with a smile but to see my and your money go to sorry people irks me.
Come down to S. Fla and wife and I will take ya fishin... that is free and quite fun!

Drug testing is a great idea. I also agree with making them work but not picking up trash. I think people in prison and jail should do that. There are many jobs these people can do and WHEN they don't show up or what ever.. the money stops and the children are taken away. We must hold these people to task. Life is not easy for any of us yet some get hand outs because they ask. I don't want my neighbors money. I just want to keep the money I earn!

I was just down there to visit my sister. It was cool but beautiful. She is in the Juno area. Thanks you for the invitation. I used to fish also. It is so calming and wonderful.
It is great talking to a sane person for once.
You sound very kind and generous. God Bless!

I always think back to when the Pilgrims came over to start this great country. They came with hardly anything, a lot of them died on the way over and more died when they got here, but they WORKED and WORKED to build their community. Yes, they HELPED each other, but NOBODY sat on their behinds and waited for handouts. They lived by God's infallible Word. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 says, "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." We've strayed so far, it's no wonder we're in such a mess.

Actually there were some that sat and did nothing. This isn't the first time this country attempted socialism.. We white Americans need to learn to stand up and be counted and stop giving in to the other races who want to take over. I am sorry that this sounds racist but it is what it is.

I had a facebook account but deleted it because my email account was compromised and I started with that. I will keep you in mind though. Thanks.
I had to change my email address and passwords, the works. It was a full time job. Whew.
Hope that never happens again.
