Democratic Party chief: Romney lacks convictions

The head of the Democratic Party is accusing Republican Mitt Romney of having "no convictions" because he backs repealing President Barack Obama's health care overhaul even though it's very similar to the one Romney implemented in Massachusetts.

Romney's health care program in Massachussetts is the baggage that he will never be able to shed in the view of those of us who do not, for one reason or another, like the idea of socialized medicine. There have been articles on this site and comments by posters that suggest that Massachussetts cannot for long sustain his archetypal program, without drastic (probably even more taxes) measures to shore it up.

It is easy for Romney to say now, "It seemed like a good idea at the time," but the harm has been done. To say that he "lacks conviction" is an understatement. Like most other professional politicians, he will say and do anything to achieve his goal of greater power and influence.

As I have posted before, the Republicans are bound and determined to offer an alternative to Obama that IS no alternative. As in 2008, the competition between a young, handsome and charismatic newcomer and an old, stodgy, time-is-past party loyalist was no competition at all.

It looks like 2012 will be the same thing...as much as I dislike Obama's style of leadership and would be disinclined to vote for him, I see the Republicans coming up with another inner circle loser. Mitt Romney is at the top of the list. Then there is Gingrich. If there is no one left in the Grand Old Party who can inspire and energize, it is time for a third party.
