Finally, a common sense decision coming from our government.
At this rate we should stop trying to save the everglades. It's a goner by the end of century along with the rest of florida's coastlines.

The current NOMINAL rate of sea level increase is pointing to an additional 1.1 Meter increase by the end of the century.(This is best case.. worse case 5 to 6 Meter increase.)

First item on the chopping block, SFWMD's Billion dollar plus purchase of big sugar's properties.

So timmy, are you suggesting that the entire state, including Disney will no longer exist by the end of the century, Jacksonville do not worry about the Florida Georgia game, the University of Florida will be no more. Guess we will be back to 49 States or maybe Florida can be replaced by Cuba, it has mountains. We can have the Cuba Georgia game and Wild Adventures will be the place to go for amusement. Guess it is time to buy land in south Georgia.

You're asking Timmy to think for himself, and that's not a proven possibility. All he seems to know is buying whatever ideas the "priceofliberty" site is selling.

That's right -- no fairy-tale solution exists. Hydro is about as close as you get to a "free lunch" -- nuclear a close 2nd. Both require fortuitous resources and a disciplined, BUILDERS-type culture of power production.

You up for 20-dams on the Mississippi flooding 5% of our breadbasket? Solar & wind work "here", not there.

I hope the Republicans have second jobs because, after the next election, they won't have any. Dopes. Jeopardizing FL's #1 industry, tourism, is just stupid.

California has oil wells off their coast and they spend the most for gasoline. And Texas and Louisiana are so much better places to live because of their wells.........

Do you really have any Idea about what you are talking about? Let me help you NO!

How will having oil platforms some 30 plus miles into the Gulf and hopefully the Atlantic going to hurt tourism? Please explain because this I must hear this.

Go to Texas or Louisiana and tell me how many oil platforms you see from the beach because if someone did not tell you they where there you Sir would not know it.

As for California they pay more for Gas because of two reason, special blends which cost more to make and Taxes, lots of Taxes.

Don't know a thing about California do you? First, they have to refine their gasoline differently due to their higher quality and emission standards. Second, they have tax after tax after tax slapped onto all their fuel products (diesel, kerosene, oil, etc....except ethanol which gets an excise tax when imported from other states - WTF!?). Third, they have many more people and demand + lower availability (meaning refined product) keeps the prices high.

So you blame Republicans for approving offshore drilling....who are you going to blame for allowing Cuba and the ChiComs for building rigs just a few miles off of our coast?

I can guarantee fuel prices will go back up, and we'll be wishing we had started drilling. Use the Oil and Gas revenue for offshore wind turbines and solar city's. Drill now and invest for the future. DB

Is there anyone alive so stupid as to beleive that the oil companies are going to increase the supply and hense lower the price of a finite an dinishing resouce. Sure they want to lock up the resources but it would not be in their financial best interest not to keep supplies tight and demand high.
