Transportation Committee Chairman Jim Oberstar, dean of Minnesota's congressional delegation, succumbed to a political novice after 36 years of seeking more money to fix highways and bridges and bringing pork-barrel projects home.

"When you want to topple a regime, you try to decapitate it, and they have decapitated the leadership of the Democratic Party," said Ross Baker, a congressional scholar at Rutgers University.

(D) Idiot Joe Biden: Partitioning Iraq is inevitable, as shown by history (LOL)

Q: The Iraq Study Group said that your idea of partitioning Iraq is, is wrong, and would result in even wider civil war. James Baker, the chairman of that committee, said that he’s talked to experts and they believe it would trigger a “huge civil war.” Major cities are mixed between the Shiites and the Sunnis and that basically your plan just wouldn’t work.

A: Basically, Baker’s in a minority. Henry Kissinger & Madeleine Albright have signed onto the plan. If you look at the Baker report, it goes on to say “We may get where Biden is talking about.” Guess what? We’re getting there. What is this administration implicitly acknowledging by building a wall? They’re building a wall, and they’re talking about a centralized government?

There’s never been a time in history where there’s been a self-sustaining cycle of sectarian violence that has ended even remotely reasonably without a federated system. Never. What for the 1st time in history is different?

There’s an inevitability to what I’m talking about.

ROFL!

Who was the big loser Tuesday? The easy answer is President Obama and his fellow Democrats on this day of epic GOP victories in the House, the Senate, and U.S. statehouses.

But there is a bigger loser: Washington.

The wave of disappointment and disillusionment with Washington that swept Obama into office two years ago never went away. With the unemployment rate hovering near double digits, the president was unable to deliver the change that most Americans could believe in, so voters delivered a message of their own to the incumbent party: Get out.

Are the Republicans watching? No more career politicians. Two terms, and you are gone. We are not giving you time to learn to steal. It may take a couple elections for the professional politician to get the message, but the fun's over. You have a job to do, we will decide if you are doing it. If not, we will hire someone else. Don't think this is just for Democrats, it isn't.

Agree Shady. We need to keep on these politicians and eventually get them to pass Congressional Term Limits just like we have on the presidency.

For the most part, Career Politicians are agaisnt Term Limits for Obvious reasons. It severely limits their government career. This is why it's critical for new blood to circulate up there with Tea party roots that endorse Term Limits.

Notes for 2012 run: Seven Ways to Make Voters Forget You’re a Democrat

By Ben Adler
October 18, 2010

Democrats knew this day would come, although perhaps not so soon: after winning a slew of seats in the 2006 and 2008 elections, they have a bevy of vulnerable incumbents facing constituents who don’t think much of the Democratic Party or its national leadership. To hold onto their seats, many of these Democrats—even as they often accept help from their party’s reelection committees—seek to distance themselves from the national party as they try to appeal to the voters back home. Some candidates take the tack of emphasizing their conservative—or “independent”—record while never mentioning their party. If you didn’t know the candidate, you’d sometimes think you were watching an ad for a Republican. Others tackle their party’s image problem head-on by reinforcing it, hoping that doing so will benefit them personally.

They explicitly declare their independence from, and frequent opposition to, President Obama, Democratic congressional leaders, or the entire District of Columbia. While their issues or characters to associate with—or disassociate from—differ, they all make the same point: I’m one of you, not a “Washington liberal,” so don’t treat me like just another Democrat. Here are some typical tactics:

1) Run Against Washington

2) Oppose Obama's Health-Care Reform

3) Oppose Climate-Change Legislation

4) Get Out Your Gun

5) Associate Yourself With President Bush

6) Associate Yourself With Congressional Republicans

7) Criticize Your Party and Its Entire Agenda
