He doesn't want to see the returning service men receive benefits either. Although some of them (National Guard) have lost benefits for themselves and their families due to long tours of duty (Russian Roulette) In Iraq and Afhganistan. However, he did vote to increase benefits for house represenatives and their families.

Get a grip!

This has nothing to do with race.

There are ONLY 10-12 millions AMERICANS who can't afford healthcare.

Those who support greedy corporate interests by opposing healthcare reform don't give a damn who dies as long as the profits keep flowing.

Didn't you know that our healthcare system is perfect and if you don't have proper healthcare it's your fault, because:

1. you're a poor white and therefore a loser whiner asking for a handout;
2. you're black and therefore a loser whiner asking for a handout;
3. you're Native American and you lost so screw you;
4. you're Mexican and it's your own fault your country doesn't have as many flush toilets as the USA has.

I think that about covers it. Damn, I'm gonna get hired by Faux News if I keep talking like this.

It has to do with "race" more historically than anything. By which I mean, there was something called "slave medicine", a medical approach which seeks to heal someone only if they are still of value for labor, otherwise LET THEM DIE.

This philosophy really has been extended across the board to anyone not WEALTHY enough to buy into a fancy health plan, so that in today's USA, a hell of a lot of WHITES are enjoying "slave medicine" too.

Come to think of it, that corporate slop food eaten mostly by the POOR (again of all ethnicities) is more-or-less equivalent to SLAVE FOOD, isn't it?

Seriously, look into the research done on the eating habits of the rich compared to poor in the USA... and then look at their life expectancies...

Anyway, no matter what Obama says, and he typically is eloquent and CORRECT in his words, the conservatives have already planned their fascist rebellion and so expect more disruption and even violence as they move along with it...

Obama's speech was all show and no doe.
He doesn't really believe he could pay or it by stemming corruption did he? That's ridiculous.

Does he think everyone is that stupid or what?

Do you want ACORN running your healthcare?

I didn't think so.

Most Americans are in debt in one way or another, so that arguement doesn't fly.

Poor and dying you say. Get a job, get help from a church, help from your family. But don't expect other people to pay for your healthcare, that is your responsibility.

When you take from someone to give it to someone else that is servitude and Illegal under the Constitution.

NO one owes you anything, you have to work for it yourself.

You must be out of your ever lasting mind! Get a job???? You do know that most jobs now DO NOT OFFER HEALTH? INSURANCE, DON'T YOU?? Too expensive and they don't want to pay the premiums, they'd rather take the money and give their CEO's a million dollar bonus than give employees health care. Or you can take half of your paycheck and pay for it and forget about eating or paying your mortgage.

You do know some people have gone bankrupt and have lost their homes trying to pay for uninsured illnesses or things their so-called insurance companies won't pay for.

You know people have died because they don't have insurance or couldn't afford to pay for surgeries, heart or liver transplants, etc.

My son was in an automobile accident. He was hospitalized for two months in a regular hospital, 6 months in a rehab and have 6 reconstructive surgeries on his face. How much do you think that cost????? 1.6 million dollars and that was in 1985!

Health costs are out of control. American children can't get the help they need and yet I've seen children flown in from other countries receive free services that are denied American children.

You are an idiot and a fool! Every time I see some heartless and idiotic statement like this it reminds me of why I detest Republicans! Can you say besides heartless, mean and cruel that most of them are STUPID! If Faux News and the Republican party told you sheeples that there was a hidden clause in his health care proposal to give every American a bikini wax, YOU'D BELIEVE IT AND BE OUT THERE PROTESTING THAT!

It's on page 69-70! Yeah, right!

HERE IS TO THE AMERICAN FOLKS. A NEW STUDY ON HEALTH CARE IN CANADA:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health/ca ...

The largest survey on primary health care ever conducted in Canada found that most people have high praise for their family doctor, and a staggering 92 per cent would recommend their physician to a relative or friend.

Canadians – except those living in Nunavut – have excellent access to primary health care: 85 per cent of people aged 12 and older have a regular doctor, and two thirds have been seeing the same doctor for five years or more, according to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) study, released yesterday.

“I feel darn good that 92 per cent of Canadians would recommend their family doctor to a friend. That is the litmus test,” said Sharon Johnston, a family physician and University of Ottawa professor.

NO WONDER WE ARE HEALTIER. THANK GOD FOR GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE. I'd rather have the government run it then the insurance companies.

Lets look at the numbers shall we:

The U.S. spends much more on health care than Canada, both on a per-capita basis and as a percentage of GDP.[5] In 2006, per-capita spending for health care in Canada was US$3,678,; in the U.S., US$6,714, or 82.5% higher.[5] The U.S. spent 15.3% of GDP on health care in that year; Canada spent 10.0%.[5] In 2006, 70% of health care spending in Canada was financed by government, versus 46% in the United States. Total government spending per capita in the U.S. on health care was 23% higher than Canadian government spending, and U.S. government expenditure on health care was just under 83% of total Canadian spending.

Now, lets look at who is healthier:

In the World Health Organization's ratings of health care system performance among 191 member nations published in 2000, Canada ranked 30th and the U.S. 37th, while the overall health of Canadians was ranked 35th and Americans 72nd.

In cancer, the mortality rates are less in Canada then they are in the USA, for both men and women.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Ca ...

IN OTHER WORDS, YOU SPEND MORE AND ARE LESS HEALTHY!

Thanks you, but I'll stick with my health care!

Oh boy did you hit the nail on the head with this one. American food (processed) and the rise in diabetes, autisim, high blood pressure, girls developing much too early and the onset of menstrual periods starting at age 8! GI problems and the list goes on and on. Cheap processed foods filled with fillers and suspect chemical ingrediants added to increase the shelf value of the foods, forget about health concerns. Only corporate profits matter. Injecting hormones and antibiotics into cattle, chicken and pigs to make them grow larger while keeping them in filthy conditions which is why they need the antibiotics. MSN to enhance flavors and other ingrediants. Sugar and too much salt in everything.

The rich buy organic meats, eggs, poultry and fresh vegetables. Do you know how expensive this is??

To add insult to injury, we don't support our farmers, but they pay rich fat cats who buy of prime farm land knowing full well IN ADVANCE that the government is going to pay them NOT TO GROW FOOD to keep prices stable so the corporations can make money!

Do people look into anything??????

Can you ever respond to someone who has a different opinion than you without the name calling? You sound like a 14yo punk calling people stupid and idiots.

You may very well have some good opinions, but no one takes you serious because of the way you talk.

Speak like a responsible adult. You complain about Topix all the time and yet you are one of the top 10 people that ruin it.
