...are members of the influential Ways and Means Committee, which writes tax law.
If anyone in government was truly interested in tax matters they would rewrite the 27 volume tax code. The tax code is a travesty; whole industries have sprung up to cater to understanding, litigating and filing taxes (and evading taxes). Those that control the purse strings control everything and the tax code does just that. The Ways and Means Committee is a hotly sought after and coveted position to be in. A career politicians dream.
