Unemployment checks finally on their way

Federal checks could begin flowing again as early as next week to millions of jobless people who lost up to seven weeks of unemployment benefits in a congressional standoff. Full Story

We can't afford to keep paying these checks, welfare, HUD etc. People have to get out and hit the bricks, fields and take care of their own needs. We are too far in debt, it is going to cause a financial catastrophe of epic proportions.

I know when I was looking for work I was turned away by many jobs because the ad would say prefer bi-linguel yet when I wanted to fill out an application I was asked do I speak spanish and when I said no I would verabally get told they couldn't use me. In order to be a US citizen you have to speak english, and if that is so then why are employers demanding a 2nd language? Look at the US count of what they say we have illegals in the US. If those illegals were not in the US there would be more jobs that a US citizen could be doing. Don't say they are jobs we wouldn't do, we're not even given the oportunity. I seen a tv show about jobs and it showed very good jobs that they have busted illegals at. You can't have it both ways. Businesses don't like paying unemployemnt tax yet they don't want to hire english speaking only citizens so don't complain because I had to draw unemployment from you, you put me there.

The Government is destroying the middle class by design...There are NO jobs to be had. Barry Soetoro claims to have "CREATED" 600,000 jobs...WHOOPEE! There are over 8,000,000 people out of work. For every "GREEN" job "CREATED", TWO regular jobs are LOST. Since 1971 this Country has been on a down slide. Soon, we can blame China for the worlds problems as they will be #1. NAFTA,CAFTA,HAFTA,SHMAFTA,BULL CRAPTA, has sent decent paying jobs out of this Country. The UNIONS have priced themselves out of existence. You could not bring the living standard of the rest of the World UP to our level...So they are bringing our standard of living DOWN to theirs...BY DESIGN...This is only the tip of the iceberg...wait...it will get worse...sorry, truth hurts.

I think it's high time you got off your lazy azz and got a second job to pay more taxes so my unemployment benefits can be extended again in Nov.

you already know sooooo many ways to earn money, it shouldn't be a problem for you.

Unfortunately, many jobs have disappeared. RECORD number of offshore work sites, new technology leaving the old guard behind. I know many unemployed, some admittedly lazy, others left by age and education in a bad situation. Jobs will come back, but many will be changed, or will no longer exist in previous numbers. Better that people can pay their rent, buy food, take care of basic needs.

What I've heard happening is people that own businesses can't hire people because the ones being hired want to be paid under the table so they can continue drawing unemployment as well. A lot of this is happening in Calif. who's pretty broke right now. Being on extended unemployment is not giving incentive for people to want to go out and work, unless it pretty well is under the table doing odd jobs I suppose, guess maybe a lot do "handyman" jobs. A lot of these jobs that no longer exist more than likely will never come back, so unemployment is rampant nationwide of course, but a lot will find a way to keep drawing unemployment chacks and earn money on the side.

I have heard a lot of people say this is happening and the employers that say this is going on but do nothing about it are part of the problem. If someone puts in a application and then asks to be paid under the table they should turn them in. They have all of their information right there in front of them. I don't know about other areas but most lawncare and handymen in this area require getting licensed or risking a large fine so even the teenagers can't get those jobs anymore.

Here is the perfect example why there's no incentive to work, and I truly believe that most people don't have self respect or initiative much any more, free wins most every time. DEMINGNITE is stating something most probably true, sad to say, and while some of us are out there earning a paycheck and some doing a low income and/or menial job(s), we have people sitting comfortably in their home collecting just about the same amount when collecting their unemployment, and quite happy with just that.

demingnite said the truth.unemployment pays more than many jobs do so why would anyone work a menial job when they get more for staying home?people in the great depression had hell compared to those today but they made it.they had the want to and drive to take what they could get for work until things got better.people are spoiled today and buy what they cant pay for.they can afford cell phones, computers etc.at tax payers expence.when you drink champagne on a beer budget you are asking for debt.
