I remember this from last summer when SCOTUS decided corporations (including foreign companies) could contribute unlimited amounts of money to political campaigns..and if that wasn't fascist enough, denied the democrats effort to show "who and how much" in the Disclosure Act.

There was an article on NPR that discussed the legality..and how it might not be wise to throw stones if the corporation or lobbying group lives in a glass house.

The NRA gets the same exemption. I guess that's OK though?

The political National Rifle Association would surely have derailed the effort had Democrats in the House not agreed to a rifle-shot exemption crafted so narrowly that it let the NRA avoid the new law, leaving the non-profit gun-rights organization free to exercise its political-speech rights.

The NRA is the most powerful lobbying organization in the country. I became a member in 1980. In 2008, for the first time, I didn't renew my membership..and doubt that I ever will.

They scream about second amendment rights..but they care only about money and political influence.

Just goes to show how quickly the pendulum swings. Hope you enjoyed the 2 months from November to January. It's been downhill for you folks since then. LOL

What in the hell have you been smoking?
Americans everywhere realize that the US cannot sustain the level of current spending and that government spending must be cut and then kept under strict control.

So far only fiscal consertvatives (the clear majority of whom are republicans) are willing to do that.

They also realize that the size scope and intrusion of government must also be greatly reduced.

As it plays out over time, more and more insidious wasteful projects are coming to light. And the dems cannot make a case to keep most of them. Boehner is winning this fight. Remember, he's currently winning cuts on the DEMOCRATIC budget (this is the one the Dems were supposed to pass in 2010).

The first real Repub budget (for 2012) hasn't even been discussed yet...that is where the Repubs will get much more of what they want.

Dream on!

Are you still trying to push the "fiscally conservative" baloney??? There has been absolutely nothing fiscally conservative about any Republican since before Reagan. GWB lowered taxes, ran 2 unfunded wars & drove this country into the ground. 2012 & you folks are out the door. You politically overplayed your hand in Wisconsin and succeeded in getting America's attention. Americans all across this great country have watched the arrogance of Walker, the governor who thinks he is above the law. As all your shenanigans are brought to the forefront, you will be disliked even more. Your Tea Party already now polls behind even the Republicans & the Democrats. Quite a feat after only a couple of months. So, enjoy your delusions. The fat lady is about to sing for you folks.

Mail continuously comes addressed to me from AARP, although I have not joined or solicited membership and am in my mid-50s also not retired. I feel that the inappropriate flow affected my elderly father's mental state as a hard-working retiree, he an actual member valuing the organization while I necessarily view/ed the ceaseless envelopes as junk mail.

Horsesh*t! Here's what brought the country down! Congress funded and approved the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq!
Your fat lady croked!!
DEMOCRATS PROTECTED THE SCAMMERS: Democrats opposed regulations and defended Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac even though they were cooking their books to ensure bonuses and donations.
GOVERNMENT FORCED BANKS: The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)(signed into law by Democrat President Jimmy Carter in 1977 and extended by Democrat President Bill Clinton in 1995 ) and ACORN (leftist agitator group) forced Banks to give loans to unqualified borrowers. FINANCIAL OASIS: Financial firms bought huge packages of loans from Fannie & Freddie because they were backed by government.
MORTGAGE MELTDOWN: When some borrowers stopped paying, foreclosures increased dramatically which led to mortgage meltdown which led to the financial crisis. DEMOCRATS BEHIND BUSH FAILED BAILOUT OF 2008:
In 2008, a majority-Democrat Congress and Bush abandoned free-market principles and started the failed bailouts as a response to the financial crisis.
