Until the Health Care package includes meaningful reform against frivilous lawsuits the American people will continue to lose, no matter the proposal without.

blah blah blah

If he can save $500 billion on Medicare waste and fraud, why hasn't he? That's his job already! Why hasn't he been doing the job he was hired for?

Iíll believe new promises AFTER they keep some old promises.

Watch this video about his past health-care promises. Youíll see obama lie like a dog in his very own words.

Hey tort, how many malpractice law suits were filed last year? I do not know. Or how much was paid out last year in med malpractice? You seem like you know, I do not.
How many insured were dropped? How many were denied? How much did the all the Health Insurance Companies pay in exec bonuses? What were all the profits for all the Medical Companies last year?
I honestly don't know what the Tort claim vs profits percentage. Do you?

Ok....experiment over. We need to get this guy out of office before he puts everyone in the poor farm. At the rate he is spending we only have a few months left. How much longer are we going to put up with this?

President Obama is as sincere as the preppy he is. Nice try. But federal government health care for all is a grand delusion.

Even if a grand plan were to be magically put together, it would forever be a political football to be kicked around and tinkered with.

What the Democrats would put together, the Republicans would tear apart when they come back into power.

Just don't get discouraged and move to Canada or England. You'll die waiting to be seen by a doctor. Yes, it IS worse other places. People ARE dying to see a doctor in those two countries.:)

This was nothing but a rah rah speech interrupted every 30 seconds by partisan glad-handing. Very short on specifics and very long on the customary "in theory". After this complete waste of time we still don't have any real handle on what will be included or removed from this bill. You go Obama! Next time just give us the facts along with the real costs and consequences.

Where Obama blows it... He used his speech to call legitimate criticism "lies"; someone calling him on his lies is fair.

1> He says that claims of end of life counseling, bureaucratic, desk to desk handling of a government controlled health care plan that specifically cut funding for Medicare, were lies concerning "his" plan. Trouble is the criticisms were indeed relevant until some of these proposals were removed from HR3200. So, they were not lies and if he includes such absurd proposals in "his" plan, he can expect similar exposure to the truth.

2> Obama claims that his new proposal of a public option will not increase a deficit, nor be a burden on taxpayers. This is slick slight of hand. He starts by specifically including an option for those "still unable to afford" insurance to receive tax rebates (free money, as the current "low income allowance" allows.) Thus, millions (who currently receive health care as needed) would be funded by the taxpayer to enlist in the public option. It doesn't matter how you shuffle the shells, that is an increase to the deficit. Further, this option would have to be available to small businesses that can not afford insurance for their employees. Thus, effectively and long term, such an option will indeed threaten the private insurance base, as more and more individuals and small businesses opt for the public option. As that new base of taxpayer assisted parties continues to expand, it will put a decreasing base for the private insurance industry, who will have to raise their rates, which will then continue to explode the number of parties advantaging the public option. It continues to be a planned, guaranteed and imposed failure of the currently (not 100%) workable private systems.

3> If Obama's particular new plan includes control over professional's income and ownership of property (he didn't mention that aberration in the current Democrat plan), his plan will still be seen as basically Communist in nature.

4> Obama mentioned tort reform, but took care to not make it a part of his health care plan. He's going to have somebodies "study" the issue. This shows the disingenuous nature of the Democrat Party, which is careful to continue protecting outrageous theft performed by some of their core supporters, like Gore's running mate.

Let's see some promised transparency (curiously denied to date) concerning "his" bill. Republicans have repeatedly tried to amend the current bill to not include illegal aliens and Obama promises tonight not to include illegals. He's consistently kowtowed to the radicals, even hiring a 9/11 Truther and giving him a vote for the commie Cap and Trade.

I'll quote Obama... "It's time for no more games." So, let's see his health plan and how it's different from HR3200.

All year we've been told there are 47 million uninsured and now, all of a sudden, the number has dropped to 30 million. What happened to those 17 million people? Have they disappeared, or have the politicians been lying to us?

Tell me how a company can try to balance the books by insuring someone who has a major disease after they are afflicted. I can't imagine getting insurance for your car after you have an accident. I'm not opposed to identifying ways to cover preexisting conditions, but Obama's requirements for coverage are illogical if you believe in capitalism. Medicare and Medicade work for those receiving care, but the plans do not pay enough to cover costs as they are now structered and the thousands of beaurocratic requirements are a maze and full employment plan for hospital clerks. 3% admin costs are often quoted, that doesn't include the costs pushed onto physicians, not for profits hospitals and clinics--ultimately all of us

seems to be where some posters hide during the day....the anger shown towards the president is amazing, slightly more amazing than the fact that Minnesota Nice would spew such venom about providing decent health care to everyone. Why do the republicans pretend that this all just happened? I need health care as these bozo republicans make me sick...crawl back under your rocks and leave the decent people in this country alone

30 Mill:

No, he dropped the illegal workers out of his count.

As Thomas Sowell pointed out, there are some questions that need to be asked first.

If this is SO urgent, why is Obama's plan going to go into effect 4 YEARS from now, after his next presidential run?

If it is SO great, why not LET the people "experience" his vision PRIOR to his next run so they can JUDGE his plan?

If it DOESN'T need to be put into effect until 4 years from now, WHAT'S THE RUSH then?

If it CAN wait 4 years, why CAN'T we have open floor debates, open committees, arguements and hash out different ideas then...

WHY ram it through then?

Like the impossibly important stimulus, that was rammed through, and then sat for 4 days on Obama's desk while he was on vacation....

Simple common sense questions Obama and the democrats need to answer BEFORE they touch a SINGLE thing out there.

I'm glad Joe yelled out.

Obama was using the speech as another campaign style BS a thon...why NOT treat it like a campaign stump stop then?

good for Joe for speaking out and yelling "You Lie!"

'Bout time someone actually broke the self centered self important pomp and circumstance of those idiots in washington while they jam stuff down our throats...

It doesn't DESERVE the respect and solemnity that they think it does anymore.

It's become an echo chamber of elitist out of touch grandees who exempt themselves from the laws they shove onto us.

It doesn't deserve the respect they think it does. Only in THEIR minds do they actually have any respect for the chamber. The POLLS say that the PEOPLE don't respect them anymore.

Time for them to wake up. America said no in 1994, and they're saying no now.

The democrats just refuse to hear it. And so does Obama. Like one of his former campaign workers said "Obama is talking too much, and not listening."

it is hidden in the bill, read todays wall street journal, that this bill would unionize healthcare workers. this is the pay back to the unions, andy stern in particular, for spending in excess of $200 million to get him elected. the legislators are exempt from this bill and continue to receive free private healthcare for LIFE

Have you lived in either of those places and used their systems? I lived in England for 12 years and their system saved my life several times, where ours would have let me die. I think ours is the system of rationing- some have it- some don't. I don't know anyone who died because of the English system, but I know a lot of people who are still alive because they were guaranteed care no matter what. I know a lot of people who are dying here because of lack of any coverage.
