For Romney and social conservatives, an uneasy embrace

The socially-conservative men and women who are gathering in Washington, D.C. for the annual Faith & Freedom Conference Thursday are strong advocates of traditional marriage who have been highly critical of President Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage.

But when it comes to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, they aren't necessarily opposed to a marriage of convenience.

Just like the Clinton democrats aligned in back of Obama in '08, the independents and conservatives will vote for Romney. Whether they will have the opportunity to undermine Romney ala Clinton, Trippi, Carville, et al, remains to be seen. What is playing out now among the democrats, however, is better than a Monty Python festival.
