Obama went to the hill yesterday to act in a bipartisan way, to promote his stimulus package. The GOP persists in opposing the bill, calling it excessive. Rather than do the right thing in this critical time, the conservatives would rather be obstructionists. Where were they with their "concerns" when Bush was handing out no-bid contracts to crony corporations and spending 10 billion dollars a month on the war that is not a war? What a bunch of self-serving idiots. Fortunately, the Dems do not need the Repubs as much as the Repubs need the Dems. This time around, it's nice to have the shoe on the other foot.

There are actually a number of reasons we should all be wary. To name a few:

Much of the "stimulus" will not come for years. Since a typical recession last about a year, this will mean spending billions after the recovery has already started.

There is much pork included just as there was in the last stimulus bill. This one includes 200 million for resodding the Mall, an additional 400 million for climate change research, 200 million for contraception....I'm for this one if it keeps politicians from pro-creating.

Another big one?

5.2 BILLION for ACORN! That's right! The folks the FBI worked over for voter fraud! The folks that sued to force banks to make the bad loans we all are paying for now. It is hidden away in a bill called "Neighborhood Stabilization Programs".

The ACORN situation is particularly agregious because ACORN endorsed Obama. Obama also paid an ACORN affiliate $832, 600 for get-out-the-vote campaigns. Early in Obama's career, he led a Project Vote (also under ACORN) voter drive.
Can anybody say "Payback"?

Did you even look into the spending they want to do, or you think the Republicans should just do as Obama says? Fact is, I'm gonna betcha that most of the Dems and Repubs are receiving TONS of calls from the people who do not want to see this pork laden bill squeel through. Don't follow any party blindly, open your eyes and see for yourself the waste of money they want to sell your children's and grandchidren's future for. I am not a Republican (although I didn't support Obama) it is sooo clear that this is a HUGE mistake. Bah, bah little sheep, follow your leader and don't dare think for yourself.

The place I object most? Currently, 1/3 of Americans pay no taxes. Obama's stimulus plan allows for a little over half of the county to pay no taxes. It expands the earned income credit to a point that is incredibly irresponsible. I don't care if the poor only pay $1. At least there is some contribution.

Been a long time since you dutifully spewed forth moose manure hot buttons under your old handle.

House Minority Leader John Boehner FLAT OUT LIES. Druggie then regurgitates them and brainwashed ignoramuses repeat the LIES.

"Parroting GOP talking points, Rush Limbaugh falsely claimed $4.19 billion of President Barack Obama's economic recovery package "is going to ACORN." IN FACT, THE BILL DOES NOT MENTION ACORN OR OTHERWISE SINGLE IT OUT FOR FUNDING." http://mediamatters.org/items/200901270015...

Only a LIAR like Boehner would claim and only a fool would believe:'regardless of where anyone stands on taxpayer funded contraception, there is no question that it has NOTHING to do with the economy.'

Fox News’s Major Garrett repeated the right-wing talking point by asking WH press Secretary Robert Gibbs about the National Mall funding. Gibbs sharply explained that revitalizing the Mall would be good for tourism, job opportunities, and small business growth:

GIBBS: When we met on the first day of our presidency, we were on the Mall, right? 1.8 million people stood on the Mall, which happens to be the most visited national park that we have, right? I think that you can make a very credible case and the economic team has that reconditioning the National Mall will create jobs — probably through spending in small businesses.… You know, how is hiring cops stimulative? Well, if you’re about to fire cops, then hiring cops is stimulative. It’s putting people back to work." http://thinkprogress.org/2009/01/27/gibbs-sti...

But it does not say that ACORN won't get any of the money, does it?

The more I thought about this post the more it has to be just called what it is A BALD FACED LIE. From start to finish every word in it is a LIE. Only a LIAR would make such thoroughly debunked LIES.

'but it does not say that ACORN won't get any of the money, does it?" Doesn't matter if they ever get a dime or get $20 Billion.

Druggie was LYING when he said $4.19 billion of President Barack Obama's economic recovery package "is going to ACORN."

Only a fool would believe a LIAR.

Yes, over night our Washington political machine has become a mercenary enterprise with nothing but the full good of the American people as it's guiding principal. Sounds great, but, reality is a far, far different story. Of course, we might all have hope with taxes now that Geithner heads up Treasury. A sterling example of putting the nation's best of the best at the helm. How laughable.

Breaking News - the Stimulus Bill just passed the house without a single Repig vote. So much for bipartisanship.

More obstructionism from the RepubliCONs.

Yep and I believe 17 dems voted against it as well. What's their problem? Oh yea, maybe they looked at the big picture and decided the pork spending was rampant and disagree with the notion that we can SPEND our way into prosperity. I shudder to think what the dollar is going to be worth in about 4 years. Look out, here comes deep trouble. I am not a Republican, but I choose not to follow ANY party blindly....any moron can see that this package is a bunch of bull hooey.

Actually you aren't very well informed. It was only 11 Dems. DeFazio symbolically voted against it because he knew it was going to pass, but felt it didn't go far enough.

Six of 11 are members of Blue Dogs Coalition and from extremely right-wing districts. Three others are freshman who just squeaked by in close races. One was simply a skeptic of the plan and the speed it was put together.

Minnick from Idaho confirmed the propagandists and hate merchants are a cancer on America: "It's a very conservative district and many people in his district listen to talk radio. "They listen to everybody, of course, and I'm influenced by them." But there isn't any liberal radio stations in Idaho so the listeners get only the propagandists LYING to them.
