Soperton Ethanol Plant Shutting Down

The plant broke ground in 2007, with a $75 million federal grant to turn wood waste into fuel.

At $1 billion, this was a fairly trivial Bush fiasco, compared to $2 trillion in Iraq.

So the Democrats don't want to vote on repealing the kevorkian H C bill, but they found time to open the border to additional illegals by stopping the construction of the fence. They really think we will make those illegal aliens citizens in time for the 2012 elections. They are wrong.

The border "virtual fence" concept worked about as well as ridding Iraq of them durn WMDs and yellowcake.

For all of you who will just flame away without knowing the facts, let me post the first paragraph of the linked article above from the AP -

***WASHINGTON — The Obama administration on Friday ended a high-tech border fence project that cost taxpayers nearly $1 billion but did little to improve security. Congress ordered the high-tech fence along the border with Mexico in 2006 amid a clamor over the porous border, but it yielded only 53 miles of protection.***

Just for eveyone's reference the US-Mexican border is 1969 miles long.

Almost 5 years and 1 billion dollars and only 53 miles? C'mon. With the budget issues we currently have shutting this thing down was a no-brainer.

You missed the real point in this, which is that the federal
government is incapable of using our taxpayer dollars for any
project without huge cost overruns, corruption, mountains of
red tape and paperwork, and plain old incompetence.

You do the math. What was the cost per mile for this typical
government fiasco? Wow .... 10.6 miles of fence each year for
about $200,000,000 for each of those years. Thats about ...
lets see ...$18,868,000 per mile or more than $3,600 PER
FOOT.

Why should anyone be surprised that reasonable people believe
their tax dollars are largely wasted and that the government
has no respect for the average American's tax dollar.

Catch a clue .... it was an admission of incompetence. Nothing
heroic about it at all.

That's too bad. If it were up to me i would have integrated the drone program with multiple virtual fences along the entire stretch so the drones could verify positives and false positives in one swoop. You can use my tax dollars for a real system.

The project was actually dead in '09 when he cut all funding for it. It works and that's why it was stopped. The one billion construction cost is nothing compared to the 19 billion we spend every year on welfare, educational, and other costs that we are forced to spend because of the illegal alien problem.

You're right Lance. There are currently no WMS's and yellowcake in Iraq thanks to the actions taken by the US and the fence would have worked just as well.

Sanctuary cities show that feds are not enforcing law
Q: Would you allow “sanctuary cities” to ignore the federal law & provide sanctuary to immigrants?

A: The federal law is not being enforced not because of failures of local communities, but because the federal government has not done the job that it needs to do.

Q: You would allow the sanctuary cities to exist?

A.(Yes) I would pass our Amnesty bill too.

Obama was a Advocate & voted for this high tech fence as a Sentor but cut it in 2009 because there was a chance it was going to work.

Obama wants Amnesty, Not Fences. Why do you think that Schmuck keeps trying to get the "Dream Amnesty Act" Passed!

Obama even admitted he probably would have voted for it had he been in the US Senate and knowing what the others knew.

So what's your lame excuse for supporting Obama's War in Iraq & Afghanistan?
