All this ink and the airtime on TV, and neither will win the presidency. The Democratic party is in such sad shape it pains those who are registered Democrats to admit it.
It looks like at least four more years of Republicans in the White House; what a mess America is in. There just isn't any good leaders out there willing to run for the office. So sad.

Today on the campaign trail:
Obama discusses health care with seniors.
Hillary recalls the times she and her dad would go to senior homes in Pennsylvania to sing lullibies to the elderly. Her fondest memories include spoon feeding patients their diner while under sniper fire.

I love how the Morning Call posts where all the commenters are writing from - none of these first 8 remarks are from the Lehigh Valley. Well, I should clarify that I am from the Lehigh Valley, but not writing from there at this moment in time.

Go Obama!!!:)

1994 — Gingrich storms to power: It was obvious things were not looking great for Democrats after Bill Clinton’s stumbling first couple of years in power. But few people predicted the party’s humiliation would be this bad. Led by self-styled revolutionary Newt Gingrich —“I think I am a transformational figure”— Republicans gained 54 seats in the U.S. House, taking control for the first time since 1954. How long will it take this time if Hillary is elected?

Yup. He tried "Real Hard" not to raise our taxes. But, in the end, he just had to. For the children. After all, it takes a village.

I would like to ask that someone in Pennsylvania start a Pennsylvania Topix discussion on “My Pennsylvania voting experience, Tuesday, April 22, 2008.” I have tried other times to start a tread or strand or what ever it is called and been unsuccessful. The vote in Pennsylvania is very important. A chronicle throughout the day of voters experience at the polls would be nice to read about since most all of us can not be there to see. The news sources rarely do much to cover the considerations of the individual voter. Your individual experience is what I would love to hear about. But, I don’t know how you can make that thread/strand appear all day long on the menu. If it isn’t there, no one from outside would be able to see it. If there is someone that could make that site on Pennsylvania Topix, I would sure appreciate it. It would be wonderful if the site would request the reporter to post precinct numbers with the comment post. Thanks. andrew of california

Hillary: I love Detroit

The Detroit News

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has quietly become one of the Detroit auto industry's best friends, with one eye on the thousands of auto jobs in her home state of New York and the other on the 2008 presidential election.

Clinton also has close relations with the UAW. She was among a handful of members of Congress who taped a video tribute as part of UAW Vice President Dick Shoemaker's retirement.

General Motors Corp. Vice Chairman Bob Lutz offered strong words of encouragement to Hillary Clinton in April, according to an account in the New York Times. "I'm a lifelong Republican, by the way. But next time around, Hillary, here I come. I'm a protest vote."

WASHINGTON -- Former President Clinton was paid $200,000 for a New York speech to General Motors.

DETROIT FREE PRESS - The Medicare drug bill, designed to give seniors prescription-drug coverage, has another effect that's not so widely discussed: It should save Detroit's automakers and largest suppliers billions of dollars and enhance their profits.

Under the new law, the U.S. government is effectively subsidizing companies for providing a certain level of drug benefits for retirees.

In just the first three months of 2004, GM's savings from the bill was $67 million; Ford's was about $62.5 million.

At GM, the bill is estimated to reduce that long-term health care tab by $4 billion. The long-term savings at Ford:$1.8 billion. Chrysler Group will also see savings in the tens of millions of dollars, but the company has not released estimates.

Critics of the law call it a corporate handout and are troubled by legislation sending billions of dollars to large U.S. corporations. Defenders of the subsidy say there needed to be a provision to reward employers for providing good prescription-drug benefits. Other corporations in town will also benefit. The country's two largest auto suppliers, Delphi Corp. and Visteon Corp., posted first-quarter gains from the Medicare bill of $16 million and $5 million, respectively.

They say those gains should be duplicated quarter after quarter this year, working out to $64 million for Delphi and about $20 million at Visteon.

If Hillary is elected you will be driving Your Fathers Oldsmobile.

Wright was wrong, but he DOES NOT SPEAK FOR OBAMA!

Obama is NOT Jeremiah Wright, they are 2 VERY DIFFERENT & SEPERATE PEOPLE!

Obama is not racist; he loves all the white, asian, black, hawaiian,....... people that are part of his own family.

Wright was invited to help council Bill Clinton after the Monica Lewinski affair; and he went to the whitehouse to help a WHITE president in need. Wright also endorsed Bill Clinton and contributed to his campaign in the 92 election.
Yeah, he hates all WHITE people, and he's horrible!

The politics of FEAR pushed by the GOP and Clinton campaign only works on ignorant people!
Are we, as "poor white folks" really this ignorant? If you don't like Obama, fine, don't vote for him; but don't flame the inflamatory ignorant fireball of lies!

Don't be hypocrites; was rev. Falwell who endorsed Bush(es), Dole, Reagan,....... any better? He blamed abortion and the gays for Katrina; said it was God's punishment. And Pat Robertson, and others agreed with him publicly!
Somehow that gets NO attention whatsoever?

Get your heads out of your A**es!

Actually, the Republican spin machine is salivating at the thought of running against Clinton. They can't wait to dredge up all of the muck from Bill Clinton's 8 years in office. You think Karl Rove is gone away forever? Not! No matter who the Democratic nominee is, I really don't see McCain losing. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I see......

Wrong not anymore. Lately the Republicans want to run against Obama. Look at the ad they had in Pennsylvania. The one McCain coyly asked them not to run They see he is very weak when he doesn't have a teleprompter giving him cues and is not a good fighter. Not only that polls show that Hilary can beat McCain, she is something like 8 points ahead of him now. But Obama and McCain are running neck to neck.

Maybe a month ago you were right, but not anymore. Plus no one cares about the old foolishness with the Clinton's anymore, and they see that she is a fighter. Frankly attacking her husband s not attacking her. They have to do better then that. They got a new fresh face with new fish to fry why stick with the stale bread. Also I don't think Obama's wife helps him and they will attack her pretty soon just to get her going. Clinton and Obama would do good to send their spouses on trip to Outer Mongolia until the election is over.

It is almost like McCain and Clinton are running together against him. And Reverend Wright has not helped him at all. His speeches Monday made it worse. Karl rove is probably giving tips to Clinton and McCain. And I would not pass it by that he doesn't have a big back hoe digging up stuff about Obama now. I never was crazy about Obama , there is something about him I don't trust, he reminds me a a used car salesman. Telling people what they want to hear just to male a sale. But I almost feel bad for the guy. If anyone thought he had a chance against those sharks were delusional. And people wonder why she stayed in the race. They knew what was coming. But I do agree with your assessment about McCain winning, I hope not but I believe we will have 4 more years of the GOP running tha country,

I hope Hillary's first 100 days include giving Rev. Wright a position on her cabinet. He certainly deserves it. He is doing more for her nomination than her entire campaign staff.

You missed day 4. Perhaps that would be a good time to have Bill fitted with a genital cuff?
