I recently read a new interpretation of this story. "Rib" in the original Hebrew / Aramaic apparantly means any bone. Now, obviously, the literl rib story is absurd if youthink about removing a bone from the chest cage.

However: humans are one of the few species, apparently, that lacks a penis bone (I forget the clinical name for what dogs, whales, etc. have). The commentator's thought was that the "rib" was actually the human penis bone.

Just a thought.
