I see, so as an Ex-Liberal, the best solution is clearly to make an additional quasi-governmental body of people with their own agendas to fix the problem of gerrymandering, that has been around since the 70s.
What happened to small government?
The reality is Republicans are in favor of this because it gives them the chance to squeeze more reps out of a state that is decidedly Democratic by population.
Or perhaps it provides needed checks and balances. Why should the Legislators get to decide their districts? I don't particularly care if it's an independent citizen board, but it should not be the Legislature itself.

The proposed solution seems reasonable to me.

We actually don't have a democracy. We never have, although candidates are elected through a democratic process.
This country is a Constitutional Republic. It always has been. There was/is no mention of the word Democracy in either the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution or any of its' amendments.
This fact is not a right wing plot. It is a fact. All students should be made very aware what "and to the Republic, for which it stands" really truly means.
Politicians that spout this is a democracy are misleading the people.
I think the original poster used "democracy" as someone might use the term "democratic process." It think most people understood what he or she meant since we're talking about elected Congressional Representatives.

Eshoo is a liar and a coward...during a townhall she did not allow those with opposing views to speak...and when caught lying she swore "on the heads of my childern i swear it is the truth"...however she was stating the opposite of a video'd statement of Pres. Obama...so either she lies or Obama lies....probally both are liars! no wonder the people are angery and revolting...
I saw that. She seems like a bully in a shuttle way in my opinion .
Suffocating any questioning of her opinion.
