While I can't go along with you endorsement of Schiff, I am very glad to see you damn him with faint praise.

Schiff has had 10 years and has voted with Pelosi 99% of the time. He voted to make jobs go away at the port and he votes against business on a consistent basis.

That makes him Pelosi's Poodle.

Schiff kills jobs - Colbert knows how to create jobs.

If you have had enough in thei economy, vote Colbert.

Pelosi's poodle, very fitting. He is one of the responsible parties for our mess. He ignores people who disagree with him, conducts a rigged townhall, and in a pre arranged meeting he constantly scans his watch and ignores the participants. Who cares that he went to Stanford and Harvard, so did a bunch of the Czars who are also totally worthless. If he didn't have a gerrymandered district he couldn't be elected dog catcher.

Is this ever damning with faint praise!

It seems the Star-News is endorsing Schiff more out of habit than out of conviction.

You say Schiff's opponent, John Colbert, is a strong candidate and you have nothing negative at all to say about him.

And about Schiff, who is already under fire for driving the country bankrupt through his insane spending, you add that he supports a "nefarious" and "cynical effort" to protect the "absurdly, undemocratically gerrymandered San Gabriel Valley" congressional districts.

You conclude by saying Schiff might try listening to his opponents (suggesting that his opponents are right) and add one huge understatement, that Schiff is "not perfect." I'll say!

Wow! If I was running the Colbert campaign, a lot of this editorial would end up in my campaign ads.

Adam Schiff - "Schiff, a moderate"?

This Nancy Pelosi drone voted with his party 95% of the time on bad legislation including the Healthcare Bill that his party failed to read and he voted for tax increases at every given opportunity.

yes, gerrymandering districts has most certainly helped the Liberal Adam Schiff.

Suck it up Adam.

We are lucky to have a moderate and rational voice in the House. I look forward to rejecting the ignorance and insanity of the Tea Party by voting for Schiff.

@Proud American

If ONLY Schiff was "moderate." If ONLY Schiff was "rational."

How is spending the United States into bankruptcy either "moderate" or "rational?"

How can you support a candidate who has done his best in the last session to ruin the financial standing of our country?

Are you into environmentalism, helping the poor, or education?

Then tell me - those of you who continue to support this spendthrift - how exactly the country being bankrupt is going to help with environmental funding, with programs for the poor or for education?

How can you call Schiff a "moderate member" when he votes with Pelosi 98% of the time. He voted for Cap and Tax and the healthcare takeover that has already started to destroy the worlds best healthcare system. His dog and pony show "townhall" he had before the healthcare vote was a joke, he did not allow any opposing opinions voiced.

This country needs jobs and needs to be turned around from the Pelosi, Read, Obama agenda that has stagnated this country since they came to power in january of 2007

I am voting for John Colbert,

Fiscally responsible representatives DO NOT vote for trillions of dollars of stimulus and out-of-control spending. Schiff is no blue dog. Schiff is a Pelosi lap dog who votes along Democratic party lines in order to secure obscene amounts of pork that he brings home to his district. Let's make no mistake, as you read this Adam Schiff's votes in his 10 years in Congress makes your personal share of the National Debt more than $122,000--and rising every hour.

Unemployment on Schiff's watch went from 5% to 12.6% in our area. Schiff supports higher taxes on small businesses and more government spending. Schiff is bankrupting our country and giving the store away.

Speaking of Schiff, where is he? He conveniently shows up here and there to "make an appearance" and pretend he is representing us. Well, Schiff comfortably lives in the "Beverly Hills" of Maryland, Potomac to be exact. His wife sits on their children's PTA board--in Maryland. They pay their taxes in Maryland and spread their wealth around in Maryland. The last time I checked THE LAW, Schiff is supposed to reside in the state he represents.

People, wake up. If the Star News is happy endorsing a representative who doesn't even live in our community--the SN has bigger problems. I have a feeling the voters in our area are fed up with the arrogance in the Congress.

John Colbert ACTUALLY CREATED JOBS IN THE DISTRICT. John Colbert has walked the streets as a top cop and knows the concerns of average citizens. IT'S TIME TO VOTE FOR JOHN COLBERT, as our new representative he will demand that Congress balance the budget (Schiff was too chicken to tackle this issue before the election); reform Congressional spending (Schiff voted annually to increase his pay, while millions of Americans are losing their jobs); require accountability.

John Colbert is the ONLY fiscal conservative in this race with the skill and ability we need in Washington.

Are we talking about the same Adam Schiff? Your editorial refers to him as a fiscally responsible, Blue Dog moderate, but the Adam Schiff I know has helped increase the national debt by $3 trillion in the past two years. He voted for the $787 billion stimulus that basically sent taxpayer cash down a rathole while unemployment grew. He threw his support behind Obamacare, which will not only coerce people to buy insurance while degrading its quality and raising its cost, but will also require us to gradually divert funds from national defense to cover our burgeoning entitlement expenditures. With the debt now exceeding $13 trillion, Schiff has put our country on the fast track to bankruptcy - just like the European socialist countries he loves.

You’re right: Schiff’s record is hard to ignore. You’re also correct that nobody’s perfect, but no one’s leveling that criticism against Schiff. The concern of hard-working Americans is that his big-government vision is ruining our country while unions and left-wing elites enrich themselves. Schiff has exacerbated the recession by sucking taxpayer dollars from the real economy only to create more unproductive public-sector jobs.

John Colbert believes in the Constitution, and I recommend Schiff pick up a copy to read during his ample leisure time in 2011. The federal government has expanded its authority well beyond proper bounds, and has spent like there’s no tomorrow. I’m voting for Colbert. We’re taking our country back - not to the past, but to the vision of our nation’s founders.

You've got to be kidding.

Ignoring for the moment that Adam Schiff is just one more of far too many Big Spending, Big Government, Big Union tools, I could never vote for him simply on the basis of that total sham of his ObamaCare "town hall" he staged... complete with hundreds of bussed-in SEIU drones. His open contempt for his constituents was on full display that evening. And you little poodles want me to give him my vote ?
Again, you're kidding, right ?

Oh, and I understand you never returned any calls from John Colbert's office.
Nice.

Adam Schiff = Nancy Pelosi

He is the enemy of liberty, freedom, the private sector, job creation, wealth creation, the Constitution, entrepreneurship and personal responsibility.

I hope he loses.

Tammy is right - I'd give you the exact google search to try if it did not end up with Eve Schiff's cell phone number from a PTA roster right in your google search return.

Schiff does live in Maryland and his wife does serve on the PTA there in Bell Mills School as evidenced by several PTA rosters it is not hard to pull up in Google.

Why everybodyt is ignoring the fact he does not live here is beyond me.

And yet PSN endorses him anyway.

I'm really disappointed to see your endorsement of a tax and spend liberal. Not only does Schiff support passing Prop 27, which gives the legislators the redistricting power, but he supports Cap and Trade, voted for the stimulus which is a huge failure and voted for PPACA probably without even reading what's in it first...like the rest of the tax and spend liberals. There is so much crap in PPACA that has nothing to do with health care reform and I'm appalled that it would get passed before being fully understood by everyone in the House and Senate. Nancy Pelosi joked about passing it so they could see what's in it...so irresponsible.
John Colbert is a much better choice for our district. He doesn't support Cap and Trade, the Stimulus, the health care bill as written nor Prop 27. John Colbert has us, the taxpayers, in mind with everything he stands for. We, the citizens, need to take a stand again big government and big government spending and allow people who truly represent what WE want to represent us in Congress and the Senate. Adam Schiff needs to go home.

Actually a vote for Schiff is a vote for Pelosi and Obama.

Which turns off a lot of voters too.

Surely you jest. Adam Schiff's record is not very hard to ignore; it is very difficult to discover. Other than increase the tax burden on this and future generations, what has he done? Have you tried to communicate with him? I did, three or four times, and each time his response failed to address my concerns, instead informing me that he is a very fine fellow and that he is working hard and that he is a great family man. None of which is or was applicable to the point at hand. He's just another Pelosi poodle dog.

And "Democrats may find themselves under fire this political season''? Do you by any chance read the newspapers or watch tv news? Oh. Excuse me. You ARE a newspaper, aren't you. Well, maybe if you cram as you did in college you can catch up with the real world situation. Better get busy.

Best of luck.

While Many very left leaning people may see Schiff as "moderate" he is a tried and true tax and spend Democrat that wants bigger government and more of our hard earned dollars. As a small business owner, I am about letting businesses grow free from government restrictions. This is not what Schiff represents.

I am very sorry that PSN has decided to endorse Mr. Schiff
