Article: Government spends millions to guard Confederate cemeteries

There are 10 comments on the FOX Carolina story from Oct 15, 2018, titled Article: Government spends millions to guard Confederate cemeteries. In it, FOX Carolina reports that:

After last year's deadly clash between white nationalists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, the federal government quietly spent millions of dollars to hire private security guards to stand watch over at least eight Confederate cemeteries, documents from the Department of Veterans Affairs show. The security effort, which runs around the clock at all but one of those VA-operated cemeteries, was aimed at preventing the kind of damage that befell Confederate memorials across the U.S. in the aftermath of the Charlottesville violence.

It's fair. Those people died in the service of their country. Build some statues to honor the slaves who endured the old south. We have enough MLK memorials. Honor the ones who really sacrificed and DON'T be ashamed of their humble roots.

Why are we spending Federal money to protect cemeteries?
Shouldn't this be a state, or private non-Government expense?

Who pays to "protect" American cemeteries in France?

These were Democrats that died to protect their right to own blacks.
Itís the same Democrats, that are trying to erase history, by trying to eliminate any evidence of such.

Quite ironic, donít you think?

The irony is that the status conscious ladies club called the Democratic Party doesn't seem to want ex-slaves at the policy making table.

Erase history?

Quiz:

Republican or Democrat?

We stand for the .....the constitutional right to choose one's associates; to accept private employment without governmental interference, and to earn one's living in any lawful way.

We oppose the repeal of miscegenation (and gay marriage) statutes, and the control of private employment by Federal bureaucrats.

We favor home-rule, local self-government and a minimum interference with individual rights.

Would rather those millions be spent on helping people recover from these never ending disasters.

That's reasonable....but if it were spent of your frivolity of choice, I wonder how you'd react. Seems to me that we could make it law to cremate all the dead and let their kin create a shrine in their basement if it matters that much to them.

It also seems to me that prevention is better than a cure, and yet here we are in a world with Global Warming that means never ending disasters whether the pollution is ours or China's.

It's just not that simple. I'm predicting a big war in the near future. Civil or global, it's coming. How much more will be spent on hate or greed before anyone is willing to stop doing stupid things like vandalizing graves and monuments?

Most likely those vandalismís wouldnít have happened if White Nationalism hadnít found a home with Trump.

Trumpís nod and dog whistles to this base of creeps brought out the extremists from the left.

There has always been a case for reducing pollution. Unfortunately Trump cannot see past the few years he has left in this life to care about his own grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The only thing that matters to Trump and his supporters is money.

Being able to breathe clean air or have safe drinking water is of little concern.

One day, clean water will be the currency that drives the world economy.

The fact that Trump is ignoring the plight of unsafe water in Kentucky where he has a lot of worshippers is telling.

Since he hasnít bothered to help them solve this issue and they still love him tells me that Trump supporters would gladly poison themselves than to refrain from supporting their dear leader.

Collated headlines from the Communist "Daily Worker" rag. Believing this narrative would deny realities such as the New Black Panthers existing during Obama and Leftist violence existing for a hundred years before Trump. Your nonsense also disregards the spread of "nationalism" sovereignty issues and local control as successful politic protecting Western values in increasing numbers of nations around the world. Voters will pay more attention to Trump's hundreds of successes in two years, than the magical thinking of some screwball reading Trump's mind with a crystal ball.

This is happening in your state.

Tell Trump to fix this.

He doesnít listen to ďprogressivesĒ.

Maybe if you drive on down to Mar-a-Lago, Trump will invite you in for some chocolate cake and listen to your plea for your neighbors.
