exactly..Global ..warming cured by ethanol is like a Religion with a false god.. |
Anyone who thinks America can drill its way out of high prices is fooling themselves.
no one solution..drilling, shale, coal, nuclear and any alternative to using middle eastern oil.. yes it will bring down prices even in just the starting of America to use our own resources.. this resolve on our part will even bring down futures speculation...even if not tomorrow.. we have already shown we can use less.. I say we can do this if we get the stupid politics or religion of "only one way is right" out of it |
We use our own resources now. Prices won't go down if we use more of them. Trashing the planet for no real purpose is not wise. This can all be done sustainably and affordably and without major sacrifices. If someone is selling you something, ask what they personally have to gain from it and who's going to pay the costs or bear the risks. Policy decisions should not be done in a panic, and they should be well-informed, not based on what we think is true, even though it isn't. |
Who thinks we'll cure global warming with ethanol? |
I don't for sure.. |
So there's this "religion with a false God" that may or may not be out there being practiced by someone that we don't know the identity of. Alright. |
Any time an idea is promulgated with shaky science as the ANSWER.. then sold to the world by Hollywood and in the schools we should beware.. Ethanol may be a good idea but it does cause its own pollution problems.. and much political corruption and money is to be made by the global warming mantra.. I am saying to look at all of it and not be led by the nose.. http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/04/18/news/e... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21221396/ I guess if you believe that man is the ultimate source of everything it is easy to say we cause everything ...but then if we just " big-banged "into existence randomly that seems to be a bit of a silly notion.. that we could have enough power to do all this.. |

More nutty hysteria;
supply and demand, ever heard of it. Same reason Obammy wants ti release the strategi oil reserves. More supplies lower price. Even Obama the Messiah knows this. The self imposed energy crisis the liberal have us in is due to pandering the the Sierra clubbers. But 70% of americans want to drill and Nancy Pelosi takes a vacation-nice unfinished business to sell her book. even beyond price, noty using our own resources is a security issue. The dems want us to rely on terrorist nations to get our oil. Demand for oil is not going away- Open up offshore, ANWR and oil shales and we have over 100 yrs supply and can do it in a safe environmental fashion. problem-dems love high energy prices to control our lives.

Sugar??? lol There is NO sugar in ethanol, period. I will tell you this. You will not hear anyone in the ethanol industry tell you that ethanol is the "end all, be all". It is just simply a piece of the puzzle. In the 90's, ethanol plants were built to add value to corn, not to solve the nation's energy problems. |
I don't either. We have to do it ALL. Nuclear, drill for oil, geothermal, wind power, solar, ethanol..........all of it. |
Do it all???? Be careful. We are in this energy crunch partly because we have appropriated dollars to poor investments in energy like..........fill in the blanks. While our proven productive energy like coal and oil we block/restrict/litigate. |

Ethanol fuel is ethanol (ethyl alcohol), the same type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages. It can be used as a fuel, mainly as a biofuel alternative to gasoline, and is widely used in cars in Brazil. Because it is easy to manufacture and process, and can be made from very common crops, such as sugar cane and maize (corn), it is an increasingly common alternative to gasoline in some parts of the world. Except for the use of fire, the fermentation of sugar into ethanol is very likely the earliest organic reaction known to humanity,[citation needed] and the intoxicating effects of ethanol consumption have been known since ancient times. In modern times, ethanol intended for industrial use is also produced from by-products of petroleum refining. have to use sugar to ferment!!! above is from wikipedia |
Okay, here's your original statement that I replied to. "Maybe its the sugar in the engine"..... and then you go on to say," Once again......there is NO sugar in ethanol!! The ethanol sold is 199.0 proof or better. It's just like 190 moonshine except higher proof, you're right. Is there any sugar in moonshine? No, there isn't sugar in moonshine either. I totally understand the fermentation process and the fact that yeast consumes sugar and gives off ethanol and CO2 FYI. Absolutely clueless. Wow. |
yes I am clueless on making moonshine and please no need to be rude.. maybe I dont understand as well as you do but I do know that they USE sugar to make it.. in fact the Brazilians use sugar cane as opposed to corn.. the sugar in the tank was a reference to something people used to do to ruin engines.. the fact is there have been reports of damage to engines due to ethanol.. I assume these are standard engines not made for ethanol and ethanol production is causing higher food prices and as cited before the corn growth here is causing water pollution so it is nOT a total solution which after all was my original point. we need to drill and we cannot at this time afford to junk all of our cars http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/04/18/news/e... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21221396/ |
I am from Kentucky. So let me clue you in on moonshine. Its made from Corn. distilled corn. It is said that moonshiners could if needed actually run their car off of it. However something people dont understand about Corn as a biofuel. A Corn plant usally produces between two to three ears. Not many Kernals of corn per ear also. Its the Kernals people eat. So use corn and you are using what people and animals eat as feed. You need a plant that grows a weed needs no pesticides and no fertilizers. Can grow in all conditions and needs very little water. Go to link below and watch what this man has to say. Keep and open mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch... However whatever your biofuel it still makes CO2. But really this is what we need below. No C02 at all from this vehicle and the fuel is Zero in cost. http://www.youtube.com/watch... Pass the link on and email to people it could change the world. |
Yes, The second we start drilling in Alaska the price per barrel of oil will drop to about $50 within 3 months. It is the answer for now. |
I do have an open mind and if these things work.. great... unfortumatley I keep getting the suspicin that our present lawmakers are invested in ethanol, etc.. for my part I say anything that gets us off MID EAST oil, including drilling our own.. shale, nuclear.. is fine with me.. I just hate the thought of a dictator from San Francisco telling us She alone can save the planet while she lives in luxury and we pay at the pump.. we also need vehicles for these biofuels.. if tomorrow oil was obsolete most of us couldnt afford to just junk our cars.. and how messy that would be anyway... i guess we would put them in a heap with our old tvs and light bulbs? |

Pelosi, natural gas and drilling
Posted by: McQ on Monday, August 25, 2008 Nancy Pelosi on natural gas: On NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, the speaker twice seemed to suggest that natural gas – an energy source she favors – is not a fossil fuel. “I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels,” she said at one point. Natural gas “is cheap, abundant and clean compared to fossil fuels,” she said at another. The speaker apparently was trying to contrast her support for expanded use of natural gas as a motor-vehicle fuel, and many Republicans’ preference for more domestic oil drilling — particularly through opening up more of the Outer Continental Shelf for exploration. When her statements were questioned, her staff responded: “She knows it [natural gas] is a fossil fuel but includes it because compared to other fossil fuels (coal and oil) it burns more cleanly,” said Pelosi’s spokesman, Brendan Daly.“Also, it is plentiful domestically and cheaper.” Yeah, but does she know you get to natural gas by drilling? this woman is the third in line for the presidency..and is totally invested in alternatives with Pickens for one.. |
