Whatever... if he is re-elected, he'll be the leader of a decapitated (did I say decapitated?) party, since the House and Senate will be overwhelmingly conservative. He'll preside over a second term relegated to signing into law and repealing everything sent to his desk from the congress. If he vetoes, he'll be overridden (oh! did I say overridden?).

Still, I think you should hold your breath MCP, starting now. Go!

President Obama: Helping to Make the Murder of Newborns Possible

By Bryan Fischer

An abortion doctor in Philadelphia has been charged with the gruesome murders of seven babies, babies born alive whom the doctor then killed with a pair of scissors.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell induced labor and forced the births of viable babies in their sixth, seventh and eighth months of pregnancy. After the newborns drew their first breath, he stuck a pair of scissors into the back of their necks and severed their spinal cords.

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams said hundreds of other babies likely died in the squalid clinic that Gosnell ran from 1979 to 2010.

According to the DA, several state agencies charged with overseeing individual physicians flatly refused to do anything despite being presented repeatedly with evidence of wrongdoing in Dr. Gosnell’s clinic as early as 1996. The clinic not been visited by oversight officials since 1993, and was not in fact visited at all until February of 2010 in connection with a drug investigation.

The DA said the doctor demonstrated “disregard of the law (note: abortions after 24 weeks are illegal in Pennsylvania), and the disdain for the lives and health of mothers and infants.”

Gosnell charged his clients, most of whom were poor, between $1,625 and $3,000 for these illegal abortions, and authorities found $240,000 in cash in his home. He has become a millionaire by murdering babies in their first moments of life. The DA said he had cleared $1.8 million in one recent year alone through his grisly and gruesome dungeon. He is America’s Dr. Mengele.

Williams says the doctor “cut short the lives of living, breathing babies who would have survived with proper medical attention.” In the understatement of the year, he went on to say,“A doctor who cuts into the necks severing the spinal cords of living, breathing babies, who would survive with proper medical attention, is committing murder under the law.”

Added Williams,“My comprehension of the English language can’t adequately describe the barbaric nature of Dr. Gosnell.”

Bags and bottles holding aborted babies were found scattered throughout the building. One shelf was lined with jars containing the severed feet of babies. Gosnell re-used unsanitary instruments and performed procedures in filthy rooms, some of which had litter boxes and animals present during operations.

No wonder local media describe his clinic as a “house of horrors.”

Another murder charge has been filed on behalf of the family of an adult immigrant woman, who was killed through an overdose of anesthesia administrated by an untrained high school student.

Who has made this kind of barbarity possible? For an accomplice, look no further than the Oval Office. The sitting president of the United States used his influence no less than four times as an Illinois state senator to prevent newborn babies from receiving medical care that could have saved their lives.

He used his political power to make sure that babies born alive in Illinois after surviving an abortion attempt were tossed in a corner of the room and left to die.

What is the moral difference between discarding a baby and allowing it to die with no care, no comfort, no medical attention, and killing the same baby with a pair of scissors? Perhaps there is a difference in savagery, but there is no difference in barbarity.

Obama's Infanticide: The facts about Obama's votes against 'Born Alive' bills in Illinois.

At issue is Obama's opposition to Illinois legislation in 2001, 2002 and 2003 that would have defined any aborted fetus that showed signs of life as a "born alive infant" entitled to legal protection, even if doctors believe it could not survive.

Obama opposed the 2001 and 2002 "born alive" bills as backdoor attacks on a woman's legal right to abortion, but he says he would have been "fully in support" of a similar federal bill that President Bush had signed in 2002, because it contained protections for Roe v. Wade.

We find that Obama voted in committee against the 2003 state bill that was nearly identical to the federal act he says he would have supported. Both contained identical clauses saying that nothing in the bills could be construed to affect legal rights of an unborn fetus, according to an undisputed summary written immediately after the committee's 2003 mark-up session.

Same Words, Different Effect?

Obama’s campaign now has a different explanation for his vote against the 2003 Illinois bill....

...The Obama campaign statement says that "Illinois And Federal Born Alive Infant Protection Acts Did Not Include Exactly The Same Language." That's true for the earlier versions that Obama voted against. In the case of SB 1082, as it was amended just before being killed, it’s false.

On the Record

While we don't have a record of Obama's 2003 comments on SB 1082, he did express his objection to the 2001 and 2002 bills.

Obama on Senate floor, 2002:[A]dding a – an additional doctor who then has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion.… I think it’s important to understand that this issue ultimately is about abortion and not live births.

Obama on Senate floor, 2001: Number one, whenever we define a previable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we’re really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a – a child, a nine-month-old – child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place. I mean, it – it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an antiabortion statute.

Obama voted to Deny a living breathing baby Medical Attention after surviving a brutal Abortion attempt. WHAT A PIECE OF FILTH!

ACLU to Obama: You Can't Just Kill Citizens Whenever

By Nick Baumann
Mon Oct. 11, 2010

For months, the news media has been full of reports that the Obama administration plans to kill Anwar Al-Awlaki, an accused terrorist who also happens to be a US citizen. This summer, two human rights groups sued on Al-Awlaki's behalf. Despite the possibility that Al-Awlaki could be killed at any moment, the court battle over his fate has already dragged on for weeks without even touching on the government's evidence against him. Instead, the Obama administration has been trying to have its cake and eat it—or rather keep its secrets and kill its alleged terrorist—too.

The lawsuit pits the American Civil Liberties Union, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and Anwar Al-Awlaki's father, Nasser, against the full force of the Obama administration. In the government's first response to the case, filed late last month, Justice Department lawyers deployed a number of tough legal arguments—including their trump card, the so-called "state secrets" privilege, which allows the government to argue that even hearing the case could pose a dire threat to national security.

By invoking state secrets, the Obama administration wasn't just arguing that it can kill its citizens. It was also saying that it doesn't have to explain the legal or factual basis for the killing.

60% of Americans say Obama is on the Wrong Track

President’s Poll Numbers Up – Except Where He May Need Them Most This Week

January 18, 2011

President Obama and his party may have just been given a shellacking in the midterm elections but a brand new ABC News/Washington Post Poll just released indicates President Obama's poll numbers are rising.

Up five points from last month -- and 8 points from his career low in September -- President Obama now has a fifty four percent job approval rating, tying his highest rating in more than a year.

But it is hardly time for the president to pop open the champale. While the percentage of those saying the country is heading in the right direction is up 7 points from last month, a whopping 60 percent believe the US is headed seriously off on the wrong track.

And the president is still under 50% when it comes to his handling of the economy, which 72% of all Americans say should be the highest priority for him and Congress.

Perhaps the most troubling data point for the president – he and the Republicans are tied for the first time in trust to handle health care, with trust in Obama dropping 9 points since last month to a new low, and trust in the GOP gaining 4 points, rough news for the president in advance of the vote this week in the House to repeal the health care law.

Dr. Drew Predicts Epic ObamaCare Failure

November 11, 2010

Question: What is your opinion on Obama's Health Care reform?

Answer: Dr Drew...."I like the idea that it was Intended to be Insurance Reform..."

"But Here's what I expect.... Initially there will be lots of resources for everything and quickly they will realize they can't afford that. They will begin cranking it down.

And they will begin cranking it down rapidly, so far, very fast that Doctors & Hospitals will be working for free... Something we've become accustomed to.

And Because it's the federal government they won't respond to anything, there will be no negotiations.

And You will see a Massive Flight of Hospitals and Physicians from the field. That's my prediction for the future..."

'Fearmongers' Were Right about Obamacare

by Michael D. Tanner
May 3, 2010

The ink was barely dry on President Barack Obama's signature before the RAND Corp. released a report concluding that, not only would the hard-won health care package fail to curb health insurance premium increases, but the bill itself would drive premiums for young people up as much as 17 percent.

This should not have been a surprise: the Congressional Budget Office had already warned that the plan would do almost nothing to reduce premium hikes. And when New York implemented the same type of insurance reforms in the 1980s, it led to an increase of nearly $500 per year for young people. But somehow, the media didn't pay much attention.

And, of course, during the health care debate, no presidential speech was complete without a promise that "if you have health insurance today, and you like it, you can keep it." But the Congressional Budget Office now says that as many as 10 million workers will lose their current insurance under Obamacare. Some of those workers will have to buy new insurance through the government-run exchanges. Millions more will be thrown onto Medicaid.

In addition, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Studies reports that half of seniors currently enrolled in the Medicare Advantage program will lose their coverage under that program and be forced back onto traditional Medicare.

And how many times did President Obama criticize the United States for having the highest health care spending in the world? Well, late last month the government's chief actuary released his report on the bill, showing that the bill will actually increase health care spending by $311 billion over 10 years.

At the same time, the report warned that promised future spending cuts, particularly those for Medicare, are unlikely to occur. "The longer-term viability of the Medicare reductions is doubtful," wrote Richard Foster, chief actuary of the Medicare and Medicaid systems. What cuts do occur could have a severe impact on the quality of health care. As many as 15 percent of hospitals and other institutions could be forced out of business, according to the report, "possibly jeopardizing access to care" for millions of Americans.

Withdrawal date poses problem for Obama's second-term aspirations

By Anne Penketh

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is expected to formalize at its Lisbon summit tomorrow a new timetable for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.

The beginning of the drawdown of the 100,000 U.S. troop surge is still 2011, in line with President Obama’s promise to the American people. But a new deadline is being set for the completion of the withdrawal in 2014 and a full transition to Afghan security forces. The significance of that date is that it takes us beyond the next U.S. presidential elections.

The Pentagon says 2014 is an “aspirational” date that could slip further depending on the situation on the ground. The NATO secretary-general, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, told NPR this morning that NATO forces will remain for “as long as it takes.”

I can see this posing a political problem for Obama because he must have hoped that by the time November 2012 came along, Afghanistan would be forgotten as a campaign issue. The war certainly didn’t figure in the midterms and indeed foreign policy in general did not influence the result in any way.

But a presidential election is different. Obama will be under pressure from the Democratic base to stick to a withdrawal timetable, which the administration insists will be based on conditions on the ground.

What are those conditions now? NATO says its forces have regained the initiative, but there are signs that even in previously quiet zones such as Herat in western Afghanistan, violence and crime are on the rise.

In the meantime, the U.S. is escalating its military might in the battle against the Taliban in the southwest. The Washington Post reported today that M1 Abrams tanks have been deployed for the first time in the nine-year war. Yet these are the same aggressive tactics that have drawn protests from President Hamid Karzai, who angered U.S. officials with a recent interview with the same paper in which he complained that support for the war was being eroded.

One and done: To be a great president, Obama should not seek reelection in 2012

By Douglas E. Schoen and Patrick H. Caddell
Sunday, November 14, 2010

President Obama must decide now how he wants to govern in the two years leading up to the 2012 presidential election.

In recent days, he has offered differing visions of how he might approach the country's problems. At one point, he spoke of the need for "mid-course corrections." At another, he expressed a desire to take ideas from both sides of the aisle. And before this month's midterm elections, he said he believed that the next two years would involve "hand-to-hand combat" with Republicans, whom he also referred to as "enemies."

It is clear that the president is still trying to reach a resolution in his own mind as to what he should do and how he should do it.

This is a critical moment for the country. From the faltering economy to the burdensome deficit to our foreign policy struggles, America is suffering a widespread sense of crisis and anxiety about the future. Under these circumstances, Obama has the opportunity to seize the high ground and the imagination of the nation once again, and to galvanize the public for the hard decisions that must be made. The only way he can do so, though, is by putting national interests ahead of personal or political ones.

To that end, we believe Obama should announce immediately that he will not be a candidate for reelection in 2012.

If the president goes down the reelection road, we are guaranteed two years of political gridlock at a time when we can ill afford it. But by explicitly saying he will be a one-term president, Obama can deliver on his central campaign promise of 2008, draining the poison from our culture of polarization and ending the resentment and division that have eroded our national identity and common purpose.

We do not come to this conclusion lightly. But it is clear, we believe, that the president has largely lost the consent of the governed.

The midterm elections were effectively a referendum on the Obama presidency. And even if it was not an endorsement of a Republican vision for America, the drubbing the Democrats took was certainly a vote of no confidence in Obama and his party.

The president has almost no credibility left with Republicans and little with independents.

The best way for him to address both our national challenges and the serious threats to his credibility and stature is to make clear that, for the next two years, he will focus exclusively on the problems we face as Americans, rather than the politics of the moment - or of the 2012 campaign.

Is It Fair to Call Bill Daley a Lobbyist? Well, Actually, Yes It Is

Carol Felsenthal
Chicago-based journalist
Posted: September 23, 2008

According to Michael Sneed in Tuesday's Chicago Sun-Times, mayoral brother William "Bill" Daley is "steamed" over a new John McCain ad that blasts Barack Obama by linking him to supposed Obama buddies, "convicted felon" Tony Rezko, Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who carries "a legacy of federal and state investigations," as well as Illinois Senate president Emil Jones, Jr.("under ethical cloud"). But first on the list of sinister associations--even before "his money man" Tony Rezko--is Obama's "economic adviser," whom the voice on the ad tells us is not only the "Mayor's brother," but also one of those creatures so prevalent in McCain's upper echelon--a "lobbyist."

The ad seems sleazy and unfair--although none other than the New York Times which McCain campaign senior adviser Steve Schmidt declared yesterday "completely, totally, 150 percent in the tank for" Obama, fact checked it and, under "accuracy," declared that it contains "nothing that is outright wrong."

In 2005 I published a profile of Bill Daley in Chicago magazine, where I'm a contributing editor. I looked back at my research and at various drafts of the article and here's what I found.

In late 1984, Daley, a John Marshall Law School graduate, was offered a partnership at Mayer, Brown & Platt. He was hired to help build the lobbying practice at the firm, which barely had one in its Washington office, much less in its Chicago headquarters. His father was dead; his brother was not yet mayor--but his being a favorite of then congressman Dan Rostenkowski, the man who was writing the nation's tax laws-- made him an attractive addition to a firm that did not hire many John Marshall graduates.

"Bill did represent clients before Rostenkowski and other members of the Congress, as well as before the White House," one Mayer, Brown partner told me at the time. In the mid to late '80s, according to another Mayer, Brown partner, Daley's practice "involved mostly tax lobbying ... with Rostenkowski. Bill was in Washington almost all the time."

Rostenkowski went to Jail. Nice boss!

No Obamacare for Obama

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

President Obama declared that the new health care law "is going to be affecting every American family." Except his own, of course.

The new health care law exempts the president from having to participate in it. Leadership and committee staffers in the House and Senate who wrote the bill are exempted as well.

A weasel-worded definition of "staff" includes only the members' personal staff in the new system; the committee staff that drafted the legislation opted themselves out. Because they were more familiar with the contents of the law than anyone in the country, it says a lot that they carved out their own special loophole.

Anyway, the law is intended to affect "ordinary Americans," according to Vice President Joe Biden (who - being a heartbeat away from the presidency - also is not covered), not Washington insiders.
