Being from Iowa this was tough to see. I tend to forget the nasty homophobia that is everywhere....

This time it just happens to be right out in the open.

Desmastus said he has heard about the plans for protest. The church is working with police about having a presence at the church Sunday. He said protesters are welcome outside.“They are not welcome in our church service in any way,” he said.

Hmmmm.... no room at the Inn, eh?

The typical "love the sinner, hate hate the sin" bigotry from the biggest organized group of bigots in the world. It's about time someone told them to STFU. No niceness, no apologies, just that we're tired as hell of their bigotry, and we're not going to take it anymore.

Visit the local church and ask the head Con Artist,[he'll be the one at the front of the church talking to the pew warmers] if he will come to the local hospital with you. Explain that you were just reading the Bible: Mark 16:17-18, which says, "17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Tell the Con Artist that you want him to lay his hands on the sick, as a true believer, and heal them. When he refuses, hand him a quart of Draino and ask him to drink it because you do not believe he is a real believer and you want to find out if he is or not. If he refuses to drink it he is a fake and a phony believer, a liar and a hypocrite.

After he refuses to drink the Draino, as he walks away from you, ask him why be uses a book he doesn't believe or trust to tell him about homosexuality.

I read a post by someone today on Topix that raised a really good point about "love the sinner, hate the sin." That's not loving someone for who they are. That's loving someone IN SPITE of who they are, which makes a very big difference.

Hateful skrods are hateful, and these alleged "Christians" deserve everything coming their way. They will get no sympathy from me.

Here's the update on how the fundie freeek changed the sign to "adultery is not okay."

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/2012... |head

But the new sign doesn't have the cute, evilgelical rhymes we're so used to: "Adam and Steve," "so and so the sinner, so and so the sin," and so on.

BTW, the clergy guy doesn't ping my gaydar. He looks kind of nebbish-ey.

So the best way for the pastor to *TEST* his opinions is for him to look in the mirror and substitute 'gay' and 'homosexual' with the 'n-word' to *TEST* how offensive he is.....

He is actually a snarling anti-gay crusader right up there with likes of Fred Phelps; Michelle Bachmann; and Rick Santorum

*Pastor's past*
.
Demastus has been outspoken about the topics of homosexuality and abortion before.
.
PRAYER: Last year, he prayed at the Iowa Legislature asking for God’s forgiveness for abortions and for lawmakers to “have courage to rescue those being led away to death.” Some legislators and observers then said people delivering prayers should be admonished to leave out religious and political ideology.
.
ON HOMOSEXUALITY: A year earlier, he told The Des Moines Register that he feared being prosecuted for hate because of his preaching against homosexual behavior.“If I go to jail, I’ll still be preaching it in jail,” he said.
.
POLITICS: Demastus was part of a group of pastors who in December endorsed U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann for the Republican presidential nomination. Presidential candidate Rick Santorum also had spoken at Fort Des Moines Church of Christ.

Educated people understand the science concerning LGBT people and why we are who we are. The problem with many people of religion is that they follow after what their bible says concerning science. The bible actually says do not trust man's knowledge which is referring to science. The study of the bible and the cutler of the time clearly indicate that this is one of many statements that are intended to keep people uneducated. The more uneducated the easier to control. It is now 2012 and people are still as uneducated as they were more than 2,0000 years ago.

"Demastus thinks people misinterpreted his intent. His message was not to condemn homosexuals, but rather homosexuality.“We are a group of people that love everybody,” he said."

To put this BS in English 'We love you but really we hate you'.

Ex Senator Frothy Lube probably won't even wind up in the Cabinet or Romeny, but he will sooner or later have to answer to the homophobic fundierai$ers for his sweater vests that can only be described as closetey.

This is silly. What year? How big a sample size? They're doing "autopsies" - how did these people die so that they're being autopsied?

What does this absurd, essentialist claim have to say about sexual orientation being a spectrum? Seems to contradict it, rigidly.

Of course there's a biological basis for sexual orientation, as there is for intelligence. But the biological basis is not the whole story in either case and there's no "one" gene.

I don't see bad or misquoted science as a good response to anti rational, talibangelical morons.
