Why Romney lost

Full story: The Washington Post

The GOP started the presidential campaign in the black cold of the Iowa winter, appealing to evangelicals and other cultural conservatives.

Why obama won? easy, teh 47%ers gave him such a headstart, he only needed 4% more to win. The 4% consisted of the ponytailed ex hippies, college professors, g ays, hollywood types, unions, govt workers, greenies, warmers, huggers, whole foods shoppers, women with war is not the answer bumper stickers, the EBT crowd, ghetto dwellers, kids too young to remember carter, the starbucks crowd and the kook koast libs.
some of those groups overlap, but you get the idea....all that left was the old white republicans that work and pay the taxes.
I think thats what Harold was trying to say.

No, we liberals voted the right man into his second term. You folks like to box Obama voters into tight little racist/religious/percenters/bo xes but you might be shocked to know that many voters don't fall into your propaganda.

On the flip side of the coin, I would humbly suggest you look inwards and wonder what the heck was wrong with your silly band of fools in the primaries and went downhill (that momentum again!) when Mitt (47 percenter) ROmney was the best you could get - you know that "anybody but ROmney" fellow!

The haters and the racists are the ones that separated me from the Republican Party, after I had spent over 30 years supporting, voting for, contributing and working for Republican candidates.

Republicans used to be the party of successful, educated, thinking people. That changed when Karl Rove used hate, fear and racism to bring in the dregs of society in order to get G. W. Bush elected.

Now there is no place for informed, caring, thinking people in the Republican party.

You are right. Republican conservative federal judge Posner said it all so much better than I possibly could.

Republican Federal Judge Richard Posner:

ďMy theme is the intellectual decline of conservatism, and it is notable that the policies of the new conservatism are powered largely by emotion and religion and have for the most part weak intellectual groundings.

"That the policies are weak in conception, have largely failed in execution, and are political flops is therefore unsurprising Ö

"By the fall of 2008, the face of the Republican Party had become Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. CONSERVATIVE INTELLECTUALS HAD NO PARTY.Ē

Another wise voice on the subject of what has happened to the formerly proud GOP:

"..people here appear to misunderstand why Bill Bennet, Glen Beck, Newt Gingrich and their ilk say and write the things they do.

"They donít believe that Obama will impose sharia. They are hoping to invent campaign rhetoric. And to stay employed.

"They are trying to find their way to a few resonant phrases that will help to gull the rubes.

"They know that repetition plus a feined attitude of certainty with disinterested musing is the key to successful false rhetoric.

"Their real object is power, not truth. Asking them why they donít actually explore their own arguments logically, misses the point. They donít intend to."

All racism is wrong. I don't defend any of them. There is plenty of fault on both sides.

Every person is entitled to his/her opinion. But I can't respect people who ignore facts.

The opinion of an ignorant, racist redneck is not equal to the opinion of an informed, thinking, intelligent, well-educated expert with years of experience and study backing up his/her opinion.

Something that blocks us all coming to an understanding, on how to transend these difficulties, is generalizing republican's as merely racist taxpayers and democrats as racist welfare tax recipients....Even in your effort to me humorous, it only inhibits conversational progress....You should also agree, there is something primal and seriously wrong with the current republican party?

Just another reason why Mr. Romney lost,
We are on the rebound....romney and the rest of them rethugs wanted to get in to take credit for a turn-a-round in America.
Besides...romney wasn't anointed to be President. The leadership "Mantle" still stays with President Obama.

Oh if only we had some Eisenhower Republicans these days, but on the good news side, the current crazies, if they continue the path they've been taking the last 30 years, the will continue to be marginalized, without having a clue why.

Now is the time for the Democrats to implement a truly progressive agenda, knock the ridiculous filibuster practices that has taken hold and get some stuff done. They take that approach and it will be hard for the Repugnants to convince anyone that tax breaks for the rich will help anyone but corporations and a select few greedy bastards.

Because people have turned their back on American principles and just vote based on party loyalty(something that George Washington warned us could happen).
