Texas economy leaves many behind

Dec 30, 2012 Full story: WFAA-TV Dallas

AUSTIN State leaders like to brag about Texas' fast growing economy and low unemployment, but rarely do they mention the high poverty rate and so far they don't appear inclined to pass any new laws to deal with it.

The political environment of Texas is no longer that of long time Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives (from Texas) and former President of the USA Dwight David Eisenhower, both of which adamantly supported the U.S. Constitution, egalitarian, and republican values.
The new political environment of Texas is that of George Bush, Cheney, and Perry all of which support the antithesis of the old Texas political establishment!
Texas, therefore, is declining, as is the rest of the USA, into an increasingly Orwellian, authoritarian, and Machiavellian state, society, and culture which has as it' roots the Orwellian Pig revolution of the late 1960's and early 1970's.

"The number of Texans living in poverty rose for a third consecutive year in 2011, adding more than 214,000 people to total 4.6 million.

That's 18.5 PERCENT OF THE POPULATION, 3 percent HIGHER than the nation as a whole, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The metropolitan areas in the United States with the first and third highest proportions of poor people are in Texas, with McAllen-Edinburgh at 37.7 percent and El Paso at 24.7 percent."

That's the result of Rick Perry trying to do for Texas what G. W. Bush did for America - that is, dig us so deep into a hole that we may never be able to claw our way up again.
